Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

I fully agree.

As long as we don’t get too pissy when players decide they have a better option and want to leave. Can’t have your cake and eat it!
Never one to complain matey but no point trying to keep a player who wants to leave, look at geordie Arabia, just sews disharmony,
Nah for me soon as a player makes waves that he wants to leave, get rid but for best price poss.

Or just put a bid in to drive the price up then walk away before telling them to shove Lucumi 😃
They’re proving that we know how to look after players, not just for the sake of it but they want to keep the right ones around.

We also proved that we won’t hold players to ransom when we let Jobe go. I feel things like this will make a big impression when recruiting in future, unlike what the mags have done with Isak
This ^

I think as a club, we're aiming for a classy and professional image. This can include being fair but tough in transfer dealings. It seems we're trying to maintain transparent and respectful relationships with both players and other clubs. Being underhanded—such as making insincere bids or disrupting other clubs' targets—can backfire, potentially inflating prices or damaging future negotiations.

The best approach is to be fair and upfront. If a deal doesn't suit us, we walk away respectfully. Treating players with transparency and respect not only fosters loyalty within the squad but also makes the club attractive to external talent. Let's be honest employers who show respect consistently get the best from their staff.

Im in two camps on this, Reggie has shown sometimes he doesn’t care what form a player is in sometimes. Like when he brought Ballard back in for the playoffs. A lot of people thought it was a bad move as mepham and onien were seen as first choice at that point. But he saw where Ballard maybe needed with the balls in the box and brought him straight back in. I just can’t see him dropping Ballard though if he continues like Saturday. Same as this other French lad, people will say we’ve not signed him to sit on the bench but if Hume continues to play well he will be on the bench. It’s a squad game and just like Le fee they’ll all get their chance at some point.
Aye... it'll be a hellish job trying to manage it all

The Isak saga is the biggest mistake the mags have made since that bloke punched a horse and they smashed up their own city. Players have all the power, so holding them to ransom only impacts future prospective players and upsets the dressing room.

The club and player relationship needs to be a grown up one with mutual respect. I'm so pleased we have this right.

People have too many emotions surrounding our existing players. Alese and cirkin need flogging as rarely fit and with cirkin in particular a big question mark over him after how last season nose dived. We dont need to be loyal to them. Flog for a few mill that helps bring in another young talented prospect.

I agree we’ve handled departures well so far but we’ve not had a situation where a player we really want to keep is forcing his way out.If the roles were reversed and Mayenda was agitating to go after scoring 20 goals this season, I doubt we’d take it with equanimity. I know that’s football etc and it’s funny to see them in disarray but we wouldn’t like it.

I would let the lad leave for a fair fee and find the next Mayenda. It's how football works.

Just more focused on match day squad than squad for the season. I think that's a solid enough squad but signings made now will have to be made with AFCON in mind. I think it could be a CM loan and a winger purchased.

Nah they don't
For the record:

In the , each club must submit a squad list of up to 25 players, with at least eight of those being "homegrown". A homegrown player is defined as someone who has been registered with any club affiliated to the or the for at least three years before their 21st birthday. Players under the age of 21 on January 1st of the season in question are not included in the 25-man squad and can be used to supplement the squad size.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • 25-Man Squad Limit: Clubs can register a maximum of 25 players in their Premier League squad.

  • Homegrown Requirement: At least eight of those 25 players must be homegrown.

  • Homegrown Definition: A homegrown player is someone who has been registered with an FA-affiliated club for at least three years before their 21st birthday, .

  • Under-21 Players: Players under 21 years old (born on or after January 1, 2004, for the 2025/26 season) are not included in the 25-man squad and can play for the club in addition to the 25 players.

So now our first team squad looks a little like

Roefs/Patterson

Hume/Mukiele

Reinildo/Cirkin/Masuaku

Ballard/Alderete/Lucumi/ O Nien?

Xhaka/Sadiki/Diarra/Le Fee/Rigg/Neil

Adingra/Talbi/Roberts/ Mundle

Mayenda/Guiu/Isidor

24 man squad there. Allowed 25, and honestly looking at it I can't see which position we'd go for. I'm all for putting faith in the front 3, why wouldn't you when two of them have just scored in the opening day, if a striker is to be replaced though it'd be Isidor. 4 strikers in a squad for one position just wouldn't work.

That’s a very decent squad when it’s all laid out.
