Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

To me it's becoming abundantly clear what the 10 year plan is; and under KLD the club putting the people and structures in place to achieve it. While this season and maybe the next it's going to be about survival first, and hopefully a decent mid-table finish, I think inside 5 years SAFC will be playing Champions League football and within 10 years, Sunderland will win the Premier League. The Marseille of the north, if you will

Still can’t see Alderete and Lucumi playing together as both seem quite used to playing LCB.

So seems odd. Would have thought a RCB was more likely.
I think there’s far too much mass of this

Two good central defenders can play together whether they are right footed or left footed
There are plenty of partnerships where they are both right footed so why not both left footed?

The club obviously know how much money he’s worth. You have to back them to make the right choice.

Would be another quality addition from what I’ve seen.

this. Weve missed out on players this summer but it seems everytime we actually get far enough to talk to a player they signed almost straight away.

We either have an incredibly exciting 10 year plan or KLD is the world's best hypnotist.

There are so many push and pull factors at play.

Le Fée jumped at the opportunity to join in January. Okay, that was partly to get the hell out of Dodge but he was prepared to make his move permanent at that point.

I read Xhaka received our contact two days before BL were due back for training. By all accounts, he took little convincing.

What ‘project’ is being shared with players? It isn’t simply survival. If it is a five year plan, where does that take us realistically?

Again, I feel that I read something about being a top ten team. Sounds underwhelming 😃

Would that dream have convinced Xhaka to sign?

Most of the clips I’ve seen of him, he is bombing down the right hand side as an attacking full back.

I think he’s predominantly a full back but can fill in CB in the event of an injury crisis or should we need to go 5 at the back for a game. Similar to Reinildo.
Yes, that seems to be his (Mukiele's) preferred position. According to Transfermarkt he's also played a number of games at RM, but probably not in a way that suits our formation. I can't see us going 5 at the back but in RLB we trust.

Likes of Ballard and O'Nien have played both sides in the past, surely if Lucumi and Alderete are as good as we believe it's not that much of an adjustment? It's not like full back or winger where the whole pitch is to your right or left.

Yes, but they haven’t generally done that.

It is quite tricky and affects passing lanes, very important for beating press. Luke’s ability to do this has been consistently underestimated as important. Ballard is game, but reality is he’s not really capable of the switch.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but pretty sure RLB and club have stater strong preference for natural footers and it is way of modern world now. And we are definitely a modern club in our tactical outlook.

PSR is based on losses per season.

Our income has increased by 150 million this year and will remain at that higher rate for as long as we're in the prem.

The transfer fees and wages we're spending will be covered by that increase income.

You have to remember that we came into this season with expenses of less than 50 million over the last few years and an expected income if we finish 17th of about 160 million.

That gives us 110 extra million to spend (on wages, agent fee and the percetange of the transfer fee spread out throughout the contract) without making a loss, and as long as you don't make a loss, psr does not care.

Essentially, we can spend more, because we're starting lower.

Our wage bill, prior to this summer sisgnings was about 30 million, Newcastle's was 100 million.

As such we have more leeway to increase that number without losing money then they do.

@gatonegro - there you go mate - as expected

 :D
