Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

We’ve just signed two CBs who are probably starters, I would like to keep the core of Ballard, Alese and O’Nein as back up.

What Regis said about keeping an identity and togetherness is important.

Think Mukiele probably bought as a CB for us? Fits the type we were looking for.
Most of the clips I’ve seen of him, he is bombing down the right hand side as an attacking full back.

I think he’s predominantly a full back but can fill in CB in the event of an injury crisis or should we need to go 5 at the back for a game. Similar to Reinildo.

Starboy strikes again. The only twitter username I recognise on sight after the amount of absolute dribble I've seen from him linked from here. The lad's either suffered a traumatic brain injury or he's an incredible WUM.

The state of his description/bio

Has to be a WUM account

Mukiele is a right back who can play in the middle. but it seems to have always been on the right of a 3 rather than in a 2. i doubt he's been brought in as a first choice CB unless we're changing formation

If we stay up and do it well most of the team will be in place for the next 2-3 years I’d say. Maybe 1-2 additions and leavers…

Fingers crossed.

It's a long year ahead of us but we've already achieved more in the closed season that I thought possible.
If you showed me the team line up from the WHU match straight after the play offs and the stats / reputations of the players?

I'd have assumed we'd stayed up one or even two seasons to assemble them.

And I do think that signing Lucumi will be the catalyst for a huge striker - I’d love to know what ‘project’ is getting these signings over the line but this is beyond my wildest dreams.

Even in the halcyon days of Peter Reid did it feel this insane - we were close but this is bonkers.

Its this. Weve missed out on players this summer but it seems everytime we actually get far enough to talk to a player they signed almost straight away.

We either have an incredibly exciting 10 year plan or KLD is the world's best hypnotist.

Still can’t see Alderete and Lucumi playing together as both seem quite used to playing LCB.

So seems odd. Would have thought a RCB was more likely.

Let's say we go down this season, we'd have received about an extra £200m+ because of our year in the PL and parachute payments. Then we have sold Jobe, Watson and Ekwah for about £45m. This is after being fairly close to breaking even due to Clarke and Stewart sales the last few years.

If we go down we'd have to sell, but it wouldn't be a financial disaster.

Aye and we could. Diarra has only played one game and I already think we could make a profit on him if he left.

Just burst out laughing. Posted from a ‘fan’ of a team who bought safety then bought the CL twice and a cup
Also spent huge money (2nd highest in history) under the Cockney Mafia to get the world's greatest manager, Wor Rafa, out of the league that he relegated them into.

I've not gone into it and am absolutely not knowledgeable - but - from what people have said:
Selling players and recouping over 50 million
Spending what we have spent
Spreading it over 4 or 5 year contracts

Means we're okay in terms of PSR, but we've loaded a few years spending onto 1 year, so we may need to sell next season to buy again.

Similar to a few teams this and last year spending very little in the hope that they can spend more the next year (Liverpool).

I'm sure people who know more can expand / do better.
PSR is based on losses per season.

Our income has increased by 150 million this year and will remain at that higher rate for as long as we're in the prem.

The transfer fees and wages we're spending will be covered by that increase income.

You have to remember that we came into this season with expenses of less than 50 million over the last few years and an expected income if we finish 17th of about 160 million.

That gives us 110 extra million to spend (on wages, agent fee and the percetange of the transfer fee spread out throughout the contract) without making a loss, and as long as you don't make a loss, psr does not care.

Essentially, we can spend more, because we're starting lower.

Our wage bill, prior to this summer sisgnings was about 30 million, Newcastle's was 100 million.

As such we have more leeway to increase that number without losing money then they do.

Likes of Ballard and O'Nien have played both sides in the past, surely if Lucumi and Alderete are as good as we believe it's not that much of an adjustment? It's not like full back or winger where the whole pitch is to your right or left.

They’re complaining about our money now? Are we part of the cartel then?

Suppose we do have a big Mexico fan base now, so it makes sense.

To me it's becoming abundantly clear what the 10 year plan is; and under KLD the club putting the people and structures in place to achieve it. While this season and maybe the next it's going to be about survival first, and hopefully a decent mid-table finish, I think inside 5 years SAFC will be playing Champions League football and within 10 years, Sunderland will win the Premier League. Bookmark it.

Stay humble...not sure that another Leicester will ever happen.
