Jet lag

I thought it was bullshit until I suffered from it. Went back to work the day after 18 hours flying and I was fucked. Genuinely felt unsafe driving about. Wrapped in at 10 in the morning and had one fantastic kip

It's odd.

I travelled east for 16 hours non stop , time was about 9 hours ahead of gmt . Coped pretty well, not too much jet lag but was suffering narcolepsy three weeks later (daily).

Done pretty much the same trip a year later, hardly any jet lag at all apart from odd bits of wakefulness at night.

Just establish good sleep hygiene asap.
