Crossing is not an efficient way of generating scoring opportunities anyway. Data shows only 1 in approx 80 crosses results in a goal.
It's why we strategically block up the center of the pitch and allow the opposition the ball out wide, as you're far less likely to score from a cross.
I agree to an extent, however, the data will be different from different types and positions of crosses. A cut back from the byline inside the box is far more likely to result in a goal than a deeper cross from wide, outside of the box. In fact for several years, it was Pep's way of playing. Triangles down the side to get a player to the byline inside the box and the crossed it for a tap in. If you want to create scoring opportunities with the highest success rate, then you need to work the ball to. Create those crossing opportunities.
