James Brayne - Set Piece Coach

Ballard, Alderette and Mukiele….have the height in the first team. The rest are shortarses. Three players is not having the height at all.

I knaar. We’ve got three players ower 5”4” ffs.

Add to that Brobbey, Hume, Diarra… plenty of height there.

He’s strong then. We have enough height. Besides winning headers isn’t only about height it’s also about jumping and strength.
We aren’t particularly good at jumping and we don’t have that much strength so where do you get the idea we have the potential or capability to be the best in the league at set pieces?

On the contrary, we do. Team wise we boast some of the best numbers in the league when it comes to winning aerial duels.

We get very few easy goals or from set pieces. I've just seen 9 goals go in, that we are unable to produce, consitently. Is there a set-piece coach? If there is, waste of money.

“We have to involve them in the process and maybe a big event like this helps to convince them to pay attention. Otherwise, there is going to be a big problem.”

Sounds like the players aren't listening to the set piece instructions. Surprising to hear but it would explain the drop off.

Our crossing delivery in general has to improve drastically next season tbh. Get into good areas around the box and so many get nowhere near finding someone

Brobbey isn’t tall.
Hume didn’t get off the ground yesterday for their goal.
Diarra doesn’t win headers.
Totally diffent defending jumping backwards then attacking jumping forward
That's often not helped by us not having anywhere near enough players in the box. Need a near perfect delivery every time as a result.
Nobody crosses the ball and by the time they get in on their good foot the moments gone or it’s a hit and hope with the swinger foot

Crossing is not an efficient way of generating scoring opportunities anyway. Data shows only 1 in approx 80 crosses results in a goal.

It's why we strategically block up the center of the pitch and allow the opposition the ball out wide, as you're far less likely to score from a cross.
