James Anderson Watch in Australia

will this next test define Jimmy Anderson career

Ashes on the line, Swann looking like a little boy lost, Finn struggling to keep a lid on the runs, 90,000 Aussies packing the MCG, lose this and we lose the Ashes IMO.

This is when you need your leader of the attack and '''third best bowler in the world'''' to step up and deliver

Just like he did in Adelaide

How many times has Anderson got Ponting out in this series?, is it 3?

Great to see our best bowler stepping up to the mark and making the oppositions best batsmen his bunny.

thought the thread was over?

basically, if he does well you'll be nowhere to be seen, again.

thing is, the bowling attack isnt the problem (id take bowling them for 260 and 300 every time). its the batsman who let us down.

so much so that ponting is pondering on missing the last 2

if you have a side 60 for 5 after winning the toss and bowling, 1 down in the Ashes, at least half of the oppositions first choice batting line up injured and they wrack up 268 and you get rolled for 180odd, the bowlers have let you down.

Aussies should have been all out for 150ish

Pontings poor form started way before this series, sorry to point out that fact

you talk some shite.
thing is, you will know you are.
whats the point in being a miserable wind up fucker?

But I'm sure such poor bowling would surely have seen a return to form for Ricky, no?. Just like that big bully KP cashed in against the worst Australian attack of all time.

way it goes sometimes. All batsman have long periods when they cant get a run against anyone regardless of ability

Strauss went over a year before being dropped because he couldnt get a run against anyone

We get 20 wickets for under 600 runs Anderson takes 4 wickets for 30 a piece at 2.4 an over on a pitch that gives great value for your shots. We lose 20 wickets for 300 and its becaue Jimmy and Swann didnt step up to the plate.

The lad is incapable of looking at events on a cricket field and giving a knowledge based assessment on what he sees. Without knowledge you simply form a point of view and try and create an argument to make it 'right'. Hes as thick as a whale omelette and disappearing off here after Swann and Anderson put in superb performances was the biggest act of cowardice you could imagine.

listen to Geoff Boycott, said pretty much the same.

Your just deluded and wear rose tinted specs half the time

Very true but Anderson has bowled perfectly to Ponting early on in his innings. When Ponting first comes to the crease he is nervy and shuffles across his crease and goes reaching for the ball. He's always susceptible to the full outswinger early on and Jimmy has done him up perfectly with that on more than one occasion.

Smart bowling.

waits for Andy to add his two penny worth.....tick tock

just a shame he cant get Hussey out otherwise we would have won the Ashes already

He averaged 56 in India the series before the Ashes - sorry to point out that fact

i said at the time they got about 60/70 runs too many. but still, we would have still taken 260 odd all out and expected our batsman to put on a decent total. what is clear, is that the defeat was no fault of andersons. fact.

im now going to stick with your levels of comedy patter and state that Saj should be called up immediately if we are to have any chance of winning this series.
