Jack Ross

A lot of fans were unhappy of the potential appointment of McInnes last summer and his CV is the better of the two, albeit, both piss poor leagues and standard of football.

I think Jack has the potential to be a great appointment. He was a very highly thought of coach at Hearts with the intention of him being a future first team coach/manager, but he ended up leaning for personal reasons.

He transformed the St Mirren team that was basically heading for automatic relegation just over a year ago. With 5 games left they were bottom (10th) but finished 7th, 6 points clear of bottom and evaded the relegation playoff on goal difference. It doesn't sound that exciting, but the transformation really was incredible.

This season his St Mirren side won the Championship relatively comfortably, in what is generally a pretty competitive league (similar to its English namesake).

This video's well worth a watch if folk haven't already seen it, from the bought he won the Scottish Manager of the Year award, particularly with what Lewis Morgan said about him:

By the way, I thought our forum was bloody mental. I'm stuck on a train so thought, out of sheer boredom, I'd see if the Ipswich forum had any mention of Ross. It does like, about a thousand threads all with about two replies about him and/ or SAFC

"And we have won the top division". this is one of the comments comparing Ipswich to Sunderland

Horrific format for a forum, as a side-point.

Mick McCarthy, just to get us back up & competing in the championship. Huge risk this manager.

You can't even afford him his name? Do you even know who he is?

He hasn't done fuck all, never manager in england, hasnt got any contracts in the game and haway lets get ready to see loads of Scottish players signing for us. f***ing great.

Newcastle will go down next season and rafa will walk.
You're right, he hasn't done f*ck all, he's done pretty good in his management career thus far.

Love a double negative

f***ing hell man, how far have we fallen when Ipswich fans are aghast that a manager chooses us over them

If we had a cup final between the 2 clubs and it was played in Norwich we would have the majority of the crowd. f***ing turnip munching nonces

 from looking at that forum I just can't believe how bothered they seem to be about it. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the idea of a young, hungry coach and I'm quite optimistic after what was said on the podcast that he might be a good character for us. That being said, if we were comfortably in the Championship, he was linked and turned us down I'd imagine it would be met with a general shrugging of shoulders and a "ah well, he's hardly proven anyway, hadn't heard of him until a few weeks ago, fuck it", instead they have about 100 threads and seem genuinely gutted that he isn't going there. A bit weird

Yes I think the league 1 situation is lost on a few

It definitely is. Last season I hoped we could hold on to the embers of a PL squad, add some Championship proven players and try to get back up in one go.

Due to bad decisions, zero budget and some absolute twats in the playing squad we are where we are and I'm ready to start over with kids and hard working players within a system employed by a young hungry manager. I won't be crying if we don't sign PL players but some will.

What reasons for leaving?
