We are starting to see a serious shift in standards with many in and around the club happy to accept mid level chanpionship as a success. Really sad.

We’re not even close to that at the moment. Reality bites

My dad is a St Mirren fan and he's gutted Ross has gone( if true).

Totally rebuilt their squad/team and got them promotion in 18 months. Also has a very good record with playing the young 'uns and spotting young tallent.

He's told me to give him time and he'll be a very good appointment for us, especially in the position we find ourselves in right now.

Nailed on pre-season friendly up in Paisley was my dad's last remark to me

Most people on here seem pretty chuffed. I would have been so underwhelmed with someone like McCarthy. There are so many parallels with 1987 - young squad, new owner and the appointment of a young, hungry manager.

After the grindingly tedious football under MON/Moyes/Coleman/etc it's exciting to see someone who understands that goals win games.

Appointing a defensive minded manager, for a PL relegation battle, is obviously sensible ... but we have to go out to win games home and away.

Great appointment imo .... the St Mirren supporters have a very high regard for him.
