Sky Sports say that part of the attraction is that Sunderland only have to pay £50,000 compensation to St Mirren.

On the financial side also, they report that such is the low pay Jack Ross is on up in the Scottish second tier, even in Sunderland’s much reduced state, they are still offering him five times the amount of money he is currently earning.
And?

Im delighted with the appointment, i would have been pleased with Hurst, Cook, Wilder or Ross. I didnt want a lambert, mccarthy or anyone of that ilk that steps on/off the transfer merry go round. Im actually pleased its Ross now over the other 3 i would take. Not many of the players will now anything abput him

Not had a look at the Ipswich message board so would appreciate a link mate.

I looked at the St Mirren board when Jack Ross was first mentioned as a serious contender and they did think he’d end up here due to the debt free & new ownership scenario, they didn’t seem concerned when he was linked to Ipswich.

I'm a computer illiterate and can't do links but if you search TWTD chat you'll be able to find and view.

I'm happy with the appointment like but not sure why people who aren't are instantly being shot down. People are allowed an opinion.
It’s alright to have some reservations when a manager is announced.

Just don’t agree with immediately going ‘that is a shit appointment’ when they don’t know much about him. Some are assuming the worst will happen as per usual.

St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott tells PA Sport he has received no contact from Sunderland over possibility of hiring Jack Ross

"I've just heard these claims reported on talkSPORT. There has been no contact from Sunderland with us and Jack is on holiday...

Spanner in works. Joe Kinnear it is!

Fans unhappy at it not being a bigger name manager need the cold bucket of water that Donald was on about to wake them up to where we are.

As already posted, we've had some of the biggest names in the country and have ended up at rock bottom. Getting another big name in definitely doesn't guarantee turning things around.

Haway Jack lad. Welcome aboard assuming all true.

after all the optimism this week we end up with John James Jack Ross.
While Jack has an impressive CV in Scotland, not so much in England. His only time spent here was a short spell at Hartlepool where he felt homesick!
But what really concerns me is that our new owners talked about wanting a manager who knew the League we are in.
If Martin Bain had made this decision, he would have been blasted from every direction.
The new owners have disappointed with this one and I fully expect to see Ross back at some part time Scottish team within 6 months.
Who was the blatantly obvious outstanding option you’d have gone for?
