Jack Clarke

Just a sign of the times with rotation and a decent squad for that level
This.

Clarke has played more minutes for Ipswich this season than any other of their attacking players. He's also rotated with Jaden Philogene who plays the same position (and also cost £20M) and together I think they have around 28 goals. JC is the club's top scorer with 16 I believe. Anyone trying to make out that he's some kind of bit part player at Ipswich hasn't been paying attention to the size and quality of the squad (for the championship) and how McKenna loves to rotate to keep everyone fresh. He's clearly one of the best players in the championship.

Is he good enough for the Premier League, quite possibly not. He made 32 appearances last time and got zero goals, however he was also played out of position by McKenna, inverted or as a 10.

Would I want him back at Safc, again probably not. Although the fact that he is one of those players who doesn't get injured much would at least be something. Would be a novelty after barely seeing Traore, Mundle, Angulo, and TaBi this season.

It’s clear the championship is his level, I don’t get people wanting him back. No doubt some of the same people that slate talbi who’s played at a higher level than Clarke at a younger age and has more premier league goals etc. loved Clarke not been as gutted at selling a player since bent but that was when we were a championship side. I’m not sure the lad has it to be a regular in the premier league.

Agreed.

I've got a lot of respect for Jack and he did very well for us but now, if we want to progress we need better players, we may even need to spend as much as last season and try to hang on to as many as we can of our core players. Sadiki and Diarra are probably 2 I think we may be able to replace with better rather than sell the likes of Le Fee and Roefs and struggle to replace.

Good post. One thing to add is that he has got quite a few goals this season from the bench running at tired defences. That may be why he is in and out of the starting lineup.

Our current wide player options wouldn’t return anything like the goal contributions Clarke has if they are to play a season in the championship. If Clarke is better at that level than them then it’s interesting to see people think our wingers are better than Clarke at premier league level.

Can see him at one of the relegated teams next season.

As has been said, don’t think he is good enough for the PL. I think him being up for sale the other summer, then going to Ipswich late in the window for a fairly modest price, is probably quite telling in terms of how his ability is viewed in the wider footballing network.

Agree with all that apart from having him back here. I think if he starts every game he makes the step up comfortably.

Actually hed be our best left winger, assuming we class Enzo as a CM.

Chemsdine Talbi has scored 5 goals in 1400 minutes in the Premier League. None of which were penalties. I'm not sure we can say how many goals he'd score given an almost 50 game season in the Championship against far sh1tter opposition.

I reckon he has a better season in the Prem next season. 6 goals, 3 of them Pens and 3 assists.

Spurs re-sign him for £45m and plonk him on their bench for half a season before he rejoins Leeds on loan.
