Jack Clarke

To be fair may have started last night. Quick turnaround to Sunday will probably play a bigger part then. Staring to find his feet now.

Surely hes coming home on loan. It just feels right given the circumstances and how he can only play for us or them
That left wing is Mundles and Watsons to fight it out now. Shame they both got injured but when both fit i'm happy with either of them starting with the other ready to come on as a sub 2nd half and run at tired defenders legs. Clarke did great for us and we did great for him. It's the other lads chance to shine now.

Last season we relied so much on Clarke to score our goals. He did a bloody good job of it as well but he got his money contract and we have raised the bar. In a funny kind of way it must make some of our players like Jobe, Rigg , Cirkin etc think Ross Stewart left and it hasn't worked out for him, Clarke has moved on and it's not worked out for him. That's all a plus for us as a club for these lads to get us up and want to stay here longer as the grass isn't always greener on the football side, but obviously financially they are quids in for now. I like Ross Stewart and Clarke as people and they represented our club well. Not gobshites and prima donnas . I hope they both do well as we have clauses in place that benefit us if they do as well.

Both have helped us up from where we were to where we are. Now it's Tommy and Mundles time to shine . Remember that was the words Clarke said to Mundle after he left as they even knew each other from their early Spurs days.

We know his talent though, when other teams nullified him they knew we didn't have much else to offer.

Now we have threats across the team I reckon he'd do even better, hed have more freedom, teams can't just hoy 2 or 3 men on him and relax.

Shows the difference between the championship and PL. Clarke was limited in some areas and it made me cringe when he tracked back and was ever left as last man defensively as he was clueless in that area of the pitch. But going forward he was excellent and other teams doubled up and were genuinely scared of him.

He’s at a different level to Mundle or Watson. The latter has only played a couple of games for us and is now out injured it’s amazing how he’s in the same conversation as Clarke for some.

What we need is one of Mundle or Watson back fit and affecting games quickly. The season is flying by and with it being 2 from 4 it’s likely going to need 2 points per game across the season to get automatics. One poor run of games like earlier in the season would cost us.

Imagine if he had a proper centre forward like Isidor to play with. And a proper number 10, in Rigg or Le Fee.

Far cry from Burstow or Ba

Amazes me players trust these parasites to basically guide them through their career. They don’t give a shit about their “clients”, all they care about is where their next pay day is coming from.
“Show me the money” Jerry Maguire, what a great film that was, it worked out for Cuba Gooding Jr.

I can't see him coming here, he'd lose face after his big £15m move to the PL and if you were him would you just give up on it after 5 months or so? It doesn't help him that Ipswich want him to be inside so Davis can exploit his space, no idea why they bought him.

Ah no doubt but that stops the progress of both Mundle and Watson who have shown what talent they have this season already. We would be raving about both still now but for 2 month injuries to both .

He is playing as an inverted winger....inside left,,,,,,he doesnt get the opportunity to run at full backs.....thats the issue........hes playing like a left sided midfielder player who also has to tuck in and defend.

Probabaly has never played this role in his whole career....and the knock on effect to that is he cant get his confidence due to having to adapt to new role

Clarke could do well in the Premiership if played to his strengths. Imo of course

It’s turning into a very poor move for him, and not really sure why Ipswich bought him
Because coaches like McKenna are touted as “football geniuses” and they start to believe their own hype.
He plays Clarke as an old style ‘inside left’ because he thinks that he knows better than the evidence proves. He’s wrong and it is to the detriment of Clarke’s confidence.
Football these days is full of ‘golden boy’ coaches that are a one trick pony and are found out when things go tits up.

McKenna.
Hassenhuttl.
Potter (to a degree. We’ll see how he does at West Ham).
Russell Martin
Postecoglu (days are numbered surely…but won’t change his philosophy)
Gary O’Neil
ten Hag
Julen Lopetegui

This exactly. They bought some of the better Championship players, probably with relegation clause contracts. If they stay up, great, if not, they have one of the best squads in the league and money in the bank for the next promotion push.
I honestly think it’s something we’ve got to look at. Should we go up bring some of the better players in from this level. We’ll have PL money. Parachute payments and Rigg + Jobe money. With one of the better squads in the championship the season after hopefully we’ll be ready to go again. It’s big risk I know but it’s the one risk that doesn’t bankrupt the club and sets us up superbly financially

Probably the only strategy the club can do, real prem class players cost an absolute fortune so most buys will be punts or younguns that can hopefully improve.
As we’ve seen, regardless of how good a squad is in this division , the gap between the top of championship and a team playing great, and just surviving in the prem is vast

Aye buying your average Brentford or Bournemouth player is going to cost around £40m these days

The biggest change in our recruitment policy nowadays is that there is a lot more delving into the players back ground as well has the skill level. too many times in the past We've signed players (remember Darren Gibson as an example to name but one) who had plenty of skill and experience but his back ground and lifestyle totally let him down. There is no more of that at the club which if people look is pretty clear. A full analysis and deep dive into the potential players background, habits, lifestyle, awareness and mental attitude seems to be a big part of the decision whether to buy ,loan or not.
