Jack Clarke

Going to be just as bad for us should/when Ipswich get relegated and JC gets sold for another 40m, the going rate for players with premier league experience 😭 not a single person can argue its good deal for safc
The idiots who think the sun shines out of KLD and Speakman’s arse do.

Obviously disappointing news from a fan POV but part of life I guess. Difficult to know what the club should have done here for the best.

Jack obviously wanted a move to the Prem this window (as witnessed by not signing a new contract) and it would appear the only Prem team interested was Ipswich. Obviously, with only one suitor, we were negotiating from a position of weakness.

If Ipswich refused to go any higher than the £15m & £5m, not sure what we could have done- I guess a lot in here will say we should have held him to his contract and refused to let him go- that would leave us with an unhappy, depreciating asset who didn’t want to be here- probably not ideal.

The lad has been a great servant for the club and hopefully will now kick on at a higher level.

Wonder what made it such a nice afternoon?
I know he won't care, but he's been a see you next Tuesday since Clarke arrived. Constantly trying to sow seeds to get him away from minute 1.

Hope he only gets a relative pittance from this deal and Clarke sacks him off for the sack of shite that he truly is.

Self important jackass.

100% what we've sold him for. I don't blame him one bit for moving to PL club but we've been well and truly shafted on the fee because we've panicked and wanted a quick buck in the bank.
I don’t see how it’s panic when we’ve rejected bids previously.

We’ll have had a number in mind this summer and it’ll have been reached

What has that got to do with it, I’m on about what the player is worth. Our profit margin should have been a lot bigger.
Not disagreeing with that. The player is worth what the clubs agree on. We, as fans, believe it should have been higher.

In Rutter’s case I can only assume his previous fee has a bearing on his transfer fee value.

Had they both came through the same route as Clarke, there’s no way Clarke goes for half the value of Rutter, so their previous fee must have an impact or influence.

I want to see him do really well.

We've shown zero ambition and we've been lucky to have been able to keep hold of him for so long, and he's done more than enough to show he can cut it at the top level.

Good luck to the lad and I hope he smashes it.
Yeah I’ve got nothing but respect for the lad, not so keen on his agent mind. Even this season he hasn’t downtooled to avoid injury

Would absolutely love him to score against the mags

I agree generally.
Only problem for me is we barely got to see a really great winger for us play at the same time as a decent striker! That will bug me for a while.
Aside from that I’ll be ok with it if the team keep playing well and winning games
That's not going to be as likely without Clarke though.

I think you're right mate, I'd rather they took the money now and had a week to use some of it than negotiate the deal, maybe get 2m more on deadline day and then not spend nout.

And I know they can spend with the idea the money is coming but they don't seem to work like that.

Much though I'd like for Jack to have stayed, he gets to play in the big boys league, getting paid a LOAD of cash, compared to what he was on at SAFC, so everyone's a winner. I'm not sure Ipswich is a great choice, though.
Where is SAFC the winner in this? 15 million is a load of shit for a player of his quality.

Terrible price in the market and the sell on clause will not be worth anything as I am not sure he will cut it in the Premier League.

Ipswich being the only interested party tells its own story.

Wonder how much of the fee we have to hand over to Spurs.

These days you can't become too attached to players or over sentimental about them as professional football is more of a cattle market than it ever was. Carke's sale isn't even unexpected. Players don't spend their entire careers at one Club as they did in the past. A five or six years stay is an exception and three or four seasons is much more of the standard

It's poor money though I don't think we have got anywhere near the best deal for the Lad. If we do have a decent season we would probably have more than just Ipswich interested in him so I can't see what the rush is to sell. We might even have got the opportunity to showcase him in the Play Off Final it's always good for that sort of business

At least we now have a day or so to batten down the hatches in the event that we loose to Burnley (not that a win was nailed on) and this place ineviatably goes mental & puts it all down to Clarke going and then writes off the rest of our season after just 3 games. It will however be interesting to see what the reaction is if we win. As good a Clarke is I think that if the team is to get th the Premier League it has to have more than just one player of his talent in it and hpefully we are getting there with some of the others.-

Anyway very good luck to the Lad with the rest of his career.

Shit move for the lad like really shit

Ipswich 😵🤣
I suppose if they get relegated hes hoping hes done enough to get a bigger move. Puts him in the window as a player good enough for that level. There's probably a handful of clubs interested but not convinced enough

If they sell him for £40m then we get 25% of the profit. So 25% of the £25m above the £15m fee. Therefore another £6.25m. Is £21.5m plus potential add ons a fairer reflection of Jack’s value?
