Jack Clarke

All that may be true but it would have been KLD who ultimately accepts or declines the offer. Speakman will be advising him & doing the negotiating.
Either way there hasn’t been anything from the club to try and keep him there. I know we’ve spunked ridiculous money in the past but I don’t think a 10k pay rise is a stupid amount? Or is it?

I'd like to make an announcement, an open letter to Jack Clarke

Therefore I shall start another thread on Jack Clarke

I look forward to Jack's reply in due course

Buy back clauses aren’t often used in deals like this. They’re more common in bigger clubs who can let players go but may want them back after they’ve developed.

Good example is Spurs have a buy back in place with us for Cirkin if I remember correctly?

There’ll be no chance there will be one in place with the Clarke deal.

Its not Speakmans fault like. The owners are simply refusing to fund transfers and want Clarke sold to fund the strikers.

What can speakman do? I'm sure speakman would rather have more money rather than less.
SBC could've negotiated a higher fee than that, man. It's an absolute rock bottom price for one of the best players in the division who's best years are still well ahead of him

It does seem cheap but on the other hand, where is the bidding war? There isn’t one, even at that price only newly promoted Ipswich think he’s worth a punt.

It’s devastating for us but he’s failed everywhere he’s been other than when he first broke into the Leeds side and even then he struggled when he went back on loan.

His left foot isn’t great and he doesn’t have blistering pace. For us he’s priceless but to one other club he’s worth a punt at £15-20m.
Yeah that’s a fair point mind.

Great player for us but I can't see him setting the premier alight.
The defenders are a class above what he has been used to.

May not be, probably every English player wants to play in the premiership.
Probably is. Romano tweets what people pay him to. Harte or whoever will have wanted that in to ease the blow to SAFC fans, who I think Clarke genuinely likes

Rutter 40m - 48 games, 7 goals, 15 assists
Jack Clarke 15m + 5m add ons - 40 games, 15 goals, 4 assists, plus 9 goals and 12 assists the previous season.

How is one worth 40m and the other worth 20m? I get the feeling we have been desperate for any sort of fee to cover improved contracts and pay for other transfers. So much for the money being there 👀

This was to be expected for the model we have. Ross Stewart was sold for good money after he scored all our goals, now weve done the same with Jack Clarke after doing similar..this will always happen until we get to the Premier then it all changes as were on a level playing field in money terms.....

Mundle, Watson, Poveda....Isidor? there is plenty of potential to fill the void and hopefully we will soon forget about Clarke, thats the way it has to be unfortunately

The issue is that they’ve opened themselves up to criticism with the fee they’ve received

There would have been a few negative lads who would have been crying zero ambition etc but I think 90% would have accepted it for what it was however 15 rising to 20 is shite. And it’s been accepted just so we can actually pay some transfer fees

Genuinely it seems like the only chance we had of keeping Clarke was to go strikerless for a season

It stinks of Sunderland blinking first as time was running out
