Jack Clarke

Sick of hearing this incredibly toxic narrative. We don't do incredibly toxic and haven't for many a year. We dropped from the Prem to League 1 in succeeded seasons with barely a murmur of discontent. Last season was a shitshow and nobody really complained.

If you think everyone's going to kick off over this you are sadly mistaken.
I agree nothing really happened when we dropped to league one.

But I disagree about no complaints last season. The temperature heated up a lot, owner made statements, Speakman had to go on about learning lessons etc. There's more discontent now than there was in successive relegation. I not saying there's going to be riots but just have a chat amongst other fans and people aren't happy and a poor transfer window will only add fuel.

That deal is embarrassing. No way he’s worth 15 million he’s arguably double. Unless he has pushed it with his agent he wants to leave then I’m not sure why we have accepted it.
He’s worth what someone will pay

20 million package and a sell on ( which could be Absolutley anything) might turn out to be a good deal- he’ll move for bigger money when Ipswich go down

Todd-Tueart-Watson-McCoist-Bracewell-Gabbiadini-Bridges-Phillips &Co………..
Bellion went to Man Utd for more money than Phillips, yes younger but was nowhere near Phillips level, lot of pace but cant remember anyone being upset when he left. Phillps leaving was a whimper too. Compared to now, everybody rightly upset, What worries me with this model, if were top of the league and flying, heading for the prem, any player can go for market value to any club. To get out of this league, two or three better players can make all the difference and by selling Clarke is just another rinse and repeat. Imagine if we could find the 2024 Championship version of the Man Utd Class of 92 the club would just sell all of them. Sustainability and ambition and it just seems nothing else but the former.

What happened to the contract extension? Anyway, it was inevitable he'd go. However it should have been an opportunity to bring in a big fee and reinvest it in quality that helps us take the next step. It's now clear the plan is to sell one player each summer and spread that money as thinly as possible in the hope they find the next Jack Clarke to sell in a few years time. They're literally keeping their head above the water.

They stayed in play off contention and didn't sink to the bottom of the table like some on here are suggesting we will
So the definition of ok to you is finishing lower and not even getting to pealayoffs after being 4th etc the year before?

Canny. What happened to selling and improving the squad as a whole to improve, the actual point of the alleged model?

Absolutely petrifying how many people on this board are happy with that fee we’re gonna spend about 2 mil of it forget the start we were f***ing tragic for 4 month end of last season. Without Clarke we have absolutely no chance of being play offs never mind keeping up the momentum we have at the minute n when people start getting restless yous can all turn round n say but we’ve got 15 mil in the bank spurs see 4 mil of it aswell what a joke

He’s by far our best player worth double that there’s everything to suggest we can’t be better going forward
How do you work that out as a ‘fact’
For a start it could mean two strikers through the door and potentially more signings
The club know what they’ll
Need to strengthen the other areas, that fee (while I agree it’s too low) this money and wages they saving could mean for instance four more new players
Its worth considering Mundle as well I would think they bought him as his long term successor back in January with this in mind
It doesn’t have to be ‘season over’ as many are saying

This deal has definitely been agitated for by player/agent and everyone having their rants at the club need to recognise.

This was a club that managed to get 10m for Stewart. They clearly have some good negotiatiors.

But let everyone ignore the constant streaming of leaks of bids etc., from Harte to the media.

Sometimes players just want to leave.

From the clubs point of view it was the optimum time to sell as a contract agreement didn’t seem close. His left foot stopped him being worth £30m.
I don’t agree, we have been slapping big values on our players while in the market ourselves for £1-2m players. Other clubs know we are skint. All they had to do was wait until it got this late in the window & seen that we still hadn’t brought a striker in (or anyone for a fee actually). It’s not hard to figure out. Ipswich have played us.

Disappointing news to wake up to, but that’s football. Just feel like it’s another opportunity missed by the hierarchy to try and push on, especially securing Rigg, Jobe etc. Why they decided to do it on eve of the game on Burnley, I’ll never know because they’ve just killed any sort of feel good factor from last week. This board never learns its lesson.

Good luck to Jack, he’s stayed far longer than most expected, life goes on and hopefully the football factory that is Sunderland can produce another exciting left winger.

If KLD had of put his hand in his pocket & brought in a striker before selling Clarke I’m sure we would have got more fore him next week.

Every championship club without parachute payments are selling before they buy. It’s the way of football these days

Because he’s by far our best player and he creates as much as he scores take that out teh team how on earth do ya think we could be possibly any better

Spot on. People talk as if the model allows us to improve as a whole and move forward. So far the evidence suggests is self sustainable just means tread water but the transfers pay for themselves by selling a big player every summer.

If he didn't go this window, he'd go for less next one and so on. There needs to be a point where the club decide and they obviously have.

I'm sad but, if it means we can finance the 2 x CF coming in then let's do it.

We always (somehow) get through the adversity
