Was inevitable he was going and so be it, players come, players go but whoever negotiated that fee wants shot with shit. Terrible bit of business with the fees that players go for now.
 
The club have a f***ing huge week ahead of them mind. Folk won’t accept a free transfer from Russia as a replacement for Clarke.

They now need to show real intent and sign Simic and Mendy as a minimum.

It shows what they were all informed of. It’s the model. All about reinvesting.

If we don’t spend any of this Clarke money I’ll be worried, but we will imo. So let’s see who comes in.

Ah come on man. He gets to go to the PL a year earlier, on substantially more money a year earlier, and test himself a year earlier.

If he does well and Ipswich stay up, then he's a hero and richer
If he does well but Ipswich go down, he possibly gets another move or is in a position to go for promotion again, and richer.
If he struggles and either if the above happens, hes spent a year in the Premier, is richer and still has years of his career left.

Taking my Sunderland bias out of it, he'd be daft to turn it down

This. It was Pickford the last time we sold a player for this kind of money and we all knew we were never going to keep him - and relegation only made that certain. This time it's a choice.

I strongly suspect that Romano has been briefed by agents and clubs on the fee. 20 million including add ons. So will be what was reported this 15+5. Let's see what we do with the money before the end of the window. That'll be s decent indicator of what we brought in and where the club is headed.
