Jack Clarke

Half those players listed simply can't be considered to be viable first team options for this season. They're just not good enough. Arguably only Roberts and poveda are of an acceptable standard for a club wanting to push for the play offs. If clarke goes and isn't replaced we become significantly waaker in that position.
We do , but we become significantly stronger up front and across the piece.
The players we will have signed with the cash will be with us for 3 years, we have extended current valuable players contracts matching that thus allowing maturity.
We had a "5 year plan " ( allegedly ) , if this is year 4 we're closer with the new lads than with just Clarke. Splash out on one expensive chess piece next season to replace him ( maybe even Mundle might be ready then ) , better than keeping him and hoping 3 new signings come off in the 'big push ' year .
Of course id rather keep him, splash on the others and do it this year, but finances might be finances and maybe one or two necessary others are not quite peak meaning we'd fall short . Hope he stays , we sign the others and look like Real Madrid Youth .

Not disputing any of that, but I really don’t see how anyone could think Rusyn would be a viable replacement. Quality aside he’s a totally different type of player.

Completely agree mate. Was signed as a left sided forward/winger which I find worrying.

I do think there’s a player in Mundle. Obviously nowhere near Clarke’s level

Well he’s an idiot if he does. This time next season he will be back in the Championship playing in front of one man and his dog at their shitty little shed of a ground.
Or as an established prem player that has proven himself at that level he has even greater opportunities. Or worse case scenario he is stuck with a championship team favourites for promotion.

I am a huge fan of Clarke, standout player for us.

BUT at some point this cliched "model" is going to be tested via selling one of our best players for big bucks, having bought them reasonably cheap.

If this is one of them then lets get maximum money for him. I would be surprised if the club are signing the 2 lads mentioned with no outgoings.

He has to be worth big money, how many better players have been or are in this league?
Under previous leadership, we tried other models and ended up with dross, journeymen and frauds playing for us.

This cost us 4 years in the oblivion of league 1 and even then, it took a play off win to get out.

Is it really too much to ask that we do things more sustainably this time?

I said Clarke and Roberts were both detrimental to the side prior to the play off run, so I’m not passing judgement on any of the fringe players yet……maybe Hjelde.

We are on the verge of having a really talented starting 11 imo.

I hope the club get this right, and we have a really good go this season. RLB needs backing.

So we can’t sell Clarke at any price otherwise we have given up on promotion? Good to see you being reasonable as usual.
This close to the end of the transfer window? I’d probably agree. We won’t replace him.

Replacement already at the club will be spouted. Bookmark if you want
