Jack Clarke

some players click at certain clubs. I think Clarke is one of them.

If we are after the thick end of £25m and someone pays it then it's up to the lad. But no guarantee he will fare better somewhere else, you would not want to block him if a premier club came in, but Leeds?.

I thought they were cash strapped?

It seems they are hence they’ve sold a fuckton of players and not spent much in return. So can’t see them having the £25m we seemingly want largely upfront I’m guessing but if they find it the lad has a decision to make.

Leeds man.

They've got some arrogant fuckwit fans for an egg chasing backwater haven't they.

A lot of the floating glory support accross Yorkshire tend to follow Man United, Liverpool, City and then the easily led and morons tend to follow Leeds.

Honestly - I'm not even joking it's like some cult with mag like tendencies.

Not hard to understate get two years of one of the best players in the league, not sure how that’s not benifting mind.
Unless promotion is achieved, then there's very little benefit in keeping hold of a £10m+ asset and allowing him to leave on a free.

It would be bonkers to be honest.

If Clarke was the difference between relegation or staying in the league, then yes, it's a good decision to hold and let him go on a free later.

If Clarke didn't make any difference of staying in the league, then no, it's a very poor decision to allow an asset for a lot of money to leave on a free.

Not hard to understand is it?

Somewhat contradictory your first and third paragraphs.

Here's a little tip. Take a deep breath, maybe have a cup of tea outside in the fresh air and calm down worrying about sunderland's transfer business.

You got the lotto numbers, how would we know until after the fact?. If we keep him this season and he plays a part in getting us up then the £25m will seem irrelevant. Like I say not a massive fans of those running us atm but they don’t get messed about in transfer negotiations and even if he stayed and we don’t go up I’d still fancy us to get a decent fee for him seeing what they managed to pull off with Stewart. It’s all conjecture anyway unless a team meets the valuation they want he will be staying and that seems a gamble the ownership is willing to take or he’d have gone by now.

congratulations on contradicting yourself within the first three paragraphs 🤣🤣

Unless promotion is achieved pointless keeping him, then saying if he is the difference in just keeping us in this league then we should also keep him.

Absolutely clueless man 🤣

We’ve plenty of players we could benefit from by selling at £10m + (your figure) so we could build and reinvest via a different route.

Imagine being this invested about a club and a player that you have zero connection with 🤣🤣🤣

Absolutely desperate to see us sell Clarke so much so that he’s got himself into a right tizz about it 🤣

SAFC must surely be the number 1 destination for any aspiring young player who needs game time to develop and a platform on which to showcase that development.

Clark is clearly very popular with his peers, the management and the fans. He's relatively local and all indications are that he loves being here.

So for those reasons, I think he will stay.... unless the minimum acceptable offer comes in AND he wants a deal.

Likes of Leeds would want to make any fee heavily depended on clauses.
Caps, appearances , promotion which is of Feck all use to us just to strengthen a rival…..

Hardly going to be going down...looking at the state of some clubs in this division....

And as for contradicting...the chances of relegation are extremely slim, looking at some of the dross that's in this division.

The main point is - if keeping Clarke, and rejecting hefty bids, when the very likelihood is that promotion is out of reach, because there are many better placed teams in the division competing for promotion, then it would be naive to think it's a good decision to watch him leave on a free in 2 years time.

If promotion was realistically on the cards, then by all means, reject big bids and gamble.

But to reject bids because the unrealistic valuation isn't met - to then watch him leave on a free in 2 years, whilst still in The Championship, would be foolish.

Seems any bid so far (rumours, guessing) has been around the 10-16m mark.
If he has another good season I don’t see his value going down even with a year left

Look marra, he's still got 2 years left ffs and we haven't even began our transfer business really. You're talking as if he's in his final year or something.

Going for promotion Is not unrealistic and at this stage you're the one being naive stating that "there are many better placed teams" 2 games into the season. We are one of the most successful clubs in the country when it comes to earning promotion, although what comes with that is failure via relegation as well of course.

🤣🤣 still posting

Look mate he’ll likely go so you can rest easy that sometime in the near future it will be a Clarke less Sunderland.

I hope that will apply some much needed balm to something which clearly irritates you significantly.

If it turns out we decide it is better for the club to keep him hen I’d advise some medical advice is sought as this level of obsession isn’t good.

That's a big if.

Only Ipswich and Southampton have had any decent sort of interest? And since then, they've signed other players - Ipswich Szmodics and Saints with Brereton-Diaz and Archer?

Both could still come in for Clarke.

But if neither do, then moving to Leeds would still be more beneficial to Clarke than staying.

The only other reason for Clarke to stay, would be thinking he likely has more options come next summer or 2026 when he's free.
Where do you get the info about Ipswich and Southampton being interested?

No, but with 2 years left, the best time to get the maximum value out of Clarke, as a sale, is now. The longer it's left, the less clubs will likely offer.

Of course there are many better placed teams. The 3 relegated teams for starters are more powerful. Then the teams that finished in top 6 are in a good place - Leeds, West Brom, Then Cov, 'Boro have invested quite a bit.

This Championship standard shouldn't be anywhere near last seasons, but there are still better placed teams.

We are one of the most successful clubs in the country when it comes to earning promotion
Past history means very little in this regard...
