Jack Clarke

Ya could have scripted that like. That's us all over.
The poor club, their hand was forced - it happened with (Alex) Neil, Pritchard, Stewart, Clarke, Broadhead. Either we are really unlucky, do not check the character of the people we hire or it might be something else.....

Ipswich’s style last season would have suited him wonderfully. If they keep playing like that it’ll be a good environment for him

I think Ipswich will stay up, but even if they go down he’s either:

At a team that will be among the clear favourites to go up

If he’s proven himself well enough, teams pushing for Europe will be in the market for him

Who?

Not sure they’ll keep playing like that in the prem, i might be wrong but i’d expect to see him defending more than getting the freedom he had here to play

Moving to a footballing backwater to play in front of 20-odd thousand for a team that will be relegated this season? Good to see the lad has ambition ;)

Could well be another Maja situation - head turned for money and flopped after leaving. There's not many historically who have ever gone on to bigger and better than SAFC.

I understand that 'that's football' but am disappointed at the relatively low fee. How many times have we seen an unheard of Carlos Kickaball score on his Premier League debut on MOTD and heard Alan Green excitedly shrieking about him looking a snip at £40 million?

I'm also concerned that the money won't be used for team strengthening. And it does make you wonder who's next under the infamous Model. I wonder what bargain fees Rigg, Bellingham, Patterson, Cirkin, Ballard and Neil might fetch?
He has a season playing in the best league in the world playing every week. Something he may never get here. Performing well at that level and the world is his oyster irrespective of whether Ipswich get relegated or not.

Who? I’m not doubting you, I just can’t see it - it’s a busy thread
I've just had a quick look, a use called Madmackem says it's a fair deal, that is one, I've seen plenty others.

If you want anymore you'll have to do your own work

No. We'd allow him to go when other clubs give us a fee we feel is adequate and meets his market value, given he's under contract and all that.
But there wasn’t a bidding war going on for the lad, despite what many on here think.

In your scenario, we turn down the Ipswich offer, they walk away and we have an unhappy player whose value is dropping.

I bet sunlan get the extra 5 million in clauses if Ipswich stay up 😂,that’s how much faith I have in the incompetent fools running the. Club

What I am saying is Ipswich showed ambition and we didnt.
For 2 years now we were a striker short of being a very good team and the pricks in charge have done nothing
Ipswich gambled and won. Many teams have gambled and ended up in the shit. KLD clearly has very little to gamble with so we are being run sustainably. We might not like it but at a time when clubs are struggling to survive (just look at Bordeaux) we are giving the club long term security.
We all knew someone had to be sold to fund the development of the team, it's just a shame it was Clarke as he is a delight to watch.

Yes probably. However, he’s a hard worker and playing on the counter could really suit him

I don’t think it’s a bad move for him (although I’d be a bit worried by the volume of wingers they have).

If it goes well he’ll be in the premier next season too. Maybe with Ipswich or maybe with a bigger team, having proven delivery in the PL

Not a clue mate. As a supporter I try to give the benefit of the doubt and push back on the snidey trolls who are constantly negative but I’m running out of leeway I can give them with shit like this.

😂😂😂😂

Do you seriously not see the hypocrisy in your posts?

“Snidey trolls” yet you can’t give them leeway. Perhaps, just maybe the “snidey trolls” see it for what it is, and don’t deserve you constantly calling them negative Fannie’s.

I maybe could have taken 20 up front with add-ons. 15 just isn't good enough. What will Tottenham take out of that? Potentially 3 to 6 depending on who you believe. Leaves Sunderland with 12 to 9 for our star man and most saleable asset.

Exactly. The 'add ons' what are they? Generally will be tied to Ipswich staying up or appearances. Either of those aren't guaranteed.

Signed for 750k.
Developed into a fine player contributing loads to SAFC along the way.
Sold for 20 million.

That's the model working mate... case and point
We've made 20m - 25m profit on him and Stewart.

The only players I can remember making any profit on in the last 20 years barring academy products are:

Bent
Van Aanholt
Wickham

I may have missed some.

But the model can't be denied to be working from a financial perspective.

The one and only positive is this may be the difference in signing top talent for the next 2 years.

The likes of Ballard, jobe and rigg would not have signed contracts if they thought we would not let them go when the right offer comes for them.

Time will tell.

Has it not been obvious that every move we have made since being taken over is to minimise his own outlay whilst trying to be competitive. The ownership group are not bad or trying to ruin the club, they just do not want to spend any substantial money to improve it. It is a shame but we do not run the club!
I get this and I get the model, but surely as I mentioned above he has the funds to cover costs in the short term? They could have made the club an extra 5m if they potientally negotiated longer.

I couldn't care less where he ends up or how his career goes after he leaves here. But the fee is a shocker like
Maybe you don’t but plenty do even if they can’t admit it. Selling to Ipswich just hits home where we have failed over the years. But on the bright side we now have a potential 100m+ of talent on our books (Patto, Ballard, Cirkin, Hume, Neil, Jobe, Rigg) and we know that the “model” is to develop them to their potential before selling until we get back to the Prem. The aim now is to use the Clarke money to buy more talent.

I'd take that to be fair, as they have a half decent chance of doing it.

It's more likely things like goals, assists, top 10 finish, Europe etc as well though
