Jack Clarke

They did the unthinkable last season. No one, including themselves at the start, expected them to do it. People thought they’d ‘do a Sunderland’ but not automatics.

They took a risk and it paid off. Many clubs have taken similar risks and are fucked.

Good for them but can’t really use their special achievement as a stick to beat our club with. It’s like saying Leicester won the prem why didn’t we?
To be fair they were quite a short price in the bookies to go up last season which I couldn't see happening . You never see a bookie on a bike .

He’s gone need to move on. Speakman needs to get moving on a replacement . Hes killing our club. All us supporters are nowt to him it’s just 💰 that’s all he cares about.

Maybe you don’t but plenty do even if they can’t admit it. Selling to Ipswich just hits home where we have failed over the years. But on the bright side we now have a potential 100m+ of talent on our books (Patto, Ballard, Cirkin, Hume, Neil, Jobe, Rigg) and we know that the “model” is to develop them to their potential before selling until we get back to the Prem. The aim now is to use the Clarke money to buy more talent.
That’s it in a nutshell really.

But there wasn’t a bidding war going on for the lad, despite what many on here think.

In your scenario, we turn down the Ipswich offer, they walk away and we have an unhappy player whose value is dropping.

So you just give your best player away at a lower price? You then have to replace him with less money, even though he has two years left on his contract?

How do you know he was unhappy? Everything suggests he was happy here apart from wanting to play PL, everything.

Genuinely amazed at how many people are using various ways pf justifying us not getting market value for him. 20m or you don't get him, not 15m + maybe 5m.

I get this and I get the model, but surely as I mentioned above he has the funds to cover costs in the short term? They could have made the club an extra 5m if they potientally negotiated longer.
I think the unfortunate truth is, he does not want to do that.
It's funny as when Mike Ashley did this with Newcastle (they had to fund most of their transfers themselves) he was the worst man in the world in the eyes of the North East media, when KLD does it, he is being sustainable and looking after the future of the club. I think the reality of both situations is inbetween this but it is funny how both get portrayed by the media.

If Clarke is only worth 15+5million then we can revise all our expectations on what fees we would expect for the above players.

Other clubs now know we will sell cheap.

I think we've known this for a while. Build a sustainable club by selling players high after buying them cheap, any promotion would just be a by-product of this, if we are lucky enough to somehow make it.

Our team is probably worth more now than our last few years in the prem
