I've lost my job - Career Advice please!

McDonald's are taking on all across the country, let's see who "can't" get a job and who just "won't" ........

I see your point, but I'd take it on a case by case basis. For example, Mrs K is a specialist nurse and is at work for 6:30am.
I can't drop Mini-K off at nursery until 8am, so if they do rotation shifts and I can't do breakfast or earlier, they're not likely to want me pissing them about when there will be other people without dependables/responsibilities who are more flexible

So there will be no competition for the jobs and everyone who applies will get one?

Anyone with half a brain gets one

Late shift is notoriously harder to cover.

I'm sure they'll be flexible

Best place is their own Web site tbh. Even if you start off as something else tocs like to promote from within as staff know how things work. The good thing now is there isn't a limit to how many times you can apply for driving jobs. Even look at cleaner just to get your feet in the door and after just 6 months you can apply internally for other positions. I know our on train cleaners are on 16 quid an hour which isn't to be sniffed at and that's just the start.
Train cleaners on £30k+ a year? No wonder the tickets are so bloody expensive.

Don’t think it’s a solution mate. For example all of the ones around Tyne and Wear are operating at around 50% capacity of staff.

they’ll want their staff back before the recruit anyone else

I just used McDonald's as an example tbh.

I've seen people say for years on here that they can't get a job when in a lot of cases they just don't want to work for a certain company or it's not enough money.

Keayweds situation is a bit different as there's a kid involved but the overall point still stands
So just to clarify, you’re saying that McDonald’s will employ anyone who applies who has half a brain? Just cos I thought there would be a finite number of people they could employ.

Exactly mate, they might employ you after all as you seem to have finally grasped it.

Cheers, probably worth informing ONS then. As of May there were 2.8 people unemployed for every 1 available job. That’s before all the job losses in June and July.

Obviously though it’s alright, because apparently McDonald’s can employ the 100k+ affected by the job cuts since the start of the pandemic.

McDonald's, KFC and Burger King all taking on so don't worry.

How much would you want paying for that job then.
Its not up to me what they get paid but its little wonder that the police, fire service and teaching professions are struggling to recruit trainees if you can go and be a cleaner for about £8k a year more. I think both the private and public sectors have a duty to ensure relative salaries are appropriate accross sectors.

Don’t be daft.

I imagine the train cleaners aren’t full time hours though?
Today’s the day for me when I find out if I’ve lost my job. 2/3 to go. Not confident at all. Will know by lunch time.
Fingers crossed for you.
