Dunno.

It's all gone to shit.

Hard to imagine 12 months ago we were biffing the Aussies.
The signs of decline were apparent v NZ and again v Aussies. Some of the bowlers have gotten too big for their boots and need to be taken down a peg or two

What state is Trott in? Would it be too much of a gamble! (I know the answer to this question but it shows how desperate we are)

Funnily enough on our way back from Marsden CC tonight I was talking with my son about this very issue. We both agreed that Prior was the most suited.

Broad is never a captain - all for himself and comes across as a right arrogant arsehole. He pulled up no trees with the T20 side.

OM - you raise a great point regarding Broad but I have to disagree with you with the Prior part - he's not in good enough form to even be in the side. Time for Buttler to get a chance IMO.

Ian Bell is lucky to be in the team never mind captain form is on par with cooks. Anyway for me Eion Morgan still think we need someone who can get on with it in the middle order and has a good cricket brain

Bell is in a horrendous run of form, but it is being overshadowed by Cook's problems. I have a huge problem with Ian Bell - he is immensly talented and now one of the key men in the team but he never (or very rarely) steps up when the pressure is on. Was last summer the first time (in nearly 10 years as a Test cricketer) when he scored a century without someone already having made one in the innings? Given the easy paced pitches we have had this summer, he should be our leading run scorer with the ability he has and the experience of 100+ tests, but instead he plays a few pretty shots then gets out to a shocker. Yes, he averages 45 in Test Cricket, but mentally he doesn't appear strong enough to carry the team through a tricky patch - he should be stepping up for Cook and taking the weight off his shoulders by scoring runs but what have we had? A couple of pretty looking 50s and some low scores?

He has just short of 7000 runs from 101 test matches - he should be closer to 9000 with his ability

clutching at straws but he got 2 50s against Sri Lanka, yes I appreciate it's not great but it's better than some. Morgan isn't good enough either

disagree only came unstuck against pakistan when ajmal ripped us apart. Should be back in quality player who will score quick runs at 5 or 6 instead of us stagnating like we are now

Give it to Root.

He is the only one I reckon.
my vote as well, so it wont happen.

morgan has a central contract, so from that you would assume, heis expected to play tests again.

perfectly summed up. bell is hardly an inspiring character

just a left field and with this shower running things, it wont happen but james vince always impresses me. like a young michael vaughan when batting and is captaing hants. next test at hants, could he get a look in? no chance but would do no worse, than the present stars
