Issue with Roefs?

Footballers are fickle it’s a job and if you get offered a perceived promotion ans pay rise elsewhere most people will consider it seriously.

The only way the model works is for it to be allowed to work. We need to get used to selling important players for top fees and reinvesting the money wisely. In fact I’d say we’re part way there already given sales of the likes of LND, Clarke and Jobe recently.
The model has served us very well -we sit above teams who have spent hundreds of millions more than us -as you say S Monkey long may it continue

The club's current job is to make it a place that players want to stay, our 'Model' is that we won't stand in their way if the right move comes knocking...some of the talent we have will inevitably lead to enquiries and we're daft to think they'll have blind loyalty to us just because.

We need to make sure that when they come knocking their Agents have little to sell other than more money, whether it's culture, aspirations, compensation or results...we need to be the club that players once they're here, want to be at, not just another club they're happy being employed at.

For once this scruffy tramp of a mag WUM has accidentally hit on a valid point.

Shame you lot couldn't see it with Isak, right? Oh no, you were too busy "walking Liverpool like a dog" and wanking away three times Wissa's and Elanga's actual worth.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Great post marra
The “ togetherness “ ànd “ connection “ Reggie talks about is there for all to see
Àny player leaving does take an element of risk that the club they go to has that ?
We are a very much à team -with obvious “ leaders “ -this is overlooked usually for money ànd whilst it would be very naive to think we won’t lose a few -I don’t see that spirit being greatly affected .I trust the recruitment and manager .

Worth remembering it was reported at the time it was his Sunderland team mates who convinced Geertruida not to go to Liverpool as well.

I imagine Xhaka will have a lot to say to anyone considering moving. He'll be the key imho

Another good point-the bond between Xhaka and Brobbey ehen he got the MOM award was abundantly clear
Brobbey has had a lot going on in Holland apparently-he seems to be settling in here and is obviously rated by his team mates -Xhaka words to the effect “ the award is not just for today but everything he does every day “ -he uses his words very carefully to promote training happiness and bond .Very very astute “ management “ of a game changing player

You're not very magnaminous in victory, are you?

@Southern Monkey didn't go into hibernation like many, as of 3pm Sunday, he's a decent poster.

Personally think it's a great way to go in the current climate of players forcing moves.

Every player at the club needs to feel part of something, it's what's given us the edge this season.

If you start clinging on to players and they throw their toys out of the pram you get the situations at the Mags or to a lesser extent Liverpool.

The difference between good and great players in the PL is small and it can disappear altogether if the team spirit isn't there

Any release clause will be linked to our relegation - which would be in most players contracts signed last summer.

Seeing as that isn’t happening, RR won’t be going anywhere for less than £60m.

Good post
Yeah, yeah, least of our worries I know. But still. Liverpool exposed a flaw in his game and it appears Fulham also got the memo. Its odd coz thought he was so assured earlier in the season. He appears very flappy and weak now. Goalkeeping coach needs to earn his wage and sort this out or the fifty million from Chelsea is depreciating rapidly.
If Roofes is not the best goalkeeper in the Premier League he is certainly in the top three.

The way I look at it is this.

The 'project' has just started. Xhaka in all recent interviews has indicated he is here for the long haul and there is a plan similar to the original KLD five year plan from league 1 in place.

So with that in mind I can't see any of our top signings being let go, even if it is for 50 million. If KLD wants Sunderland to win the prem and be in the champions league he isn't going to be letting his best players go after 1 season. I keep saying it, the books are fine. We don't need to be selling the big players. The lower key one's like Isidor will be the one's that go. Not the likes of Roefs, Sadiki or Le Fee. imho Those 3 will be in the long term plans to get the club into Europe which will then raise their value even higher for potential sales later.
What you also have to remember is that KLD is a proper football chairman. Not some businessman chancer owning a club for the status. KLD is the real deal. He knows how to run a club to make it a success. Trust the process. He hasn't let us down so far. We couldn't have asked for anyone better.

I agree.. the ethos is to improve and build whilst taking advantage of inflated offers as and when it either suits the club or a player wants away. As long as the recruitment remains as impressive as it has been then in theory we should get stronger every transfer window and that should reduce the risk of key players wanting to leave putting the club in a really strong position to only sell when it’s right..

Actually watched the first goal back and he gets a little nudge from a Fulham player but the ball is not in his zone. He berates the defenders after, rightly so. I was just curious if anyone thinks he has a weakness from corners? Maybe not.
Our defenders need to do a better job of braying opponents at corner kicks.

Well? Any apologies? No? But why ever not? Told you people have seen his flaws.

If I remember correctly, you said his flaw was punching.

He has the most combined catches and punches from crosses and corners of any GK in the entire PL.

Article below is from a couple of weeks ago.
