India v England series

Only managed to watch little bits here and there but seen some on twitter commenting about some umpire decisions and the different camera angles used for the run out.

What have I missed here?

Kohli didn’t walk when he was bowled, a superb Foakes stumping was given not out when it was clear Sharma had nothing behind the line whatsoever and we reviewed a decision for caught at short leg off the glove and it wasn’t even fully looked at. They checked for inside edge and lbw despite England’s protestations. The Indian commentators were getting shirty with Mark Butcher for simply pointing out what England wanted; almost accusing him of accusing the umpires of cheating.

Good day's cricket. Sometimes there's little you can do when a world class batsman is in form, and was superb to watch at times. Great tenacity from England's bowlers, too, and never let their heads drop. We're still in this game which, throughout the afternoon session, I thought was passing us by.

I thought it was a great days cricket as well and the bowlers with the exception of Ali bowled as well as they could. We will find it very difficult now there’s only Root that has the game to score the big innings that we will need first up.
India got an extra review, we got two thirds of one.

I think too much is being made of the Kohli one. He made himself look a tit but once he had stayed there the umpires were duty bound to check it out just on the slightest chance that the keeper had knocked the bails off.

Lords groundstaff are absolutely renowned for producing pitches that they think is best for the game of cricket and not for England
Was it Lords or Edgbaston back in the 90s where they prepared a wicket that was green in the middle but dry at each end. Think we played West Indies and game was over in 2 days

Yes i remember that Ambrose had it flying off a length over the keepers head i seem to remember.

The video umpire was dodgy as fuck in the last match as well, is it the same bloke? Surely we have reached the stage you could not have a neutral ref sat in a completely different country judging these decisions.

I am shocked that this has happened in India.

I think you're being kind to him mind.

From elsewhere...

There once was a captain called Kohli,
Who to the Indian supporters is holy.
But it was comedy gold,
When he got clean bowled,
And walked off ever so slowly.

[/QUOTE Definitely a case of conning the home umpire.Once bowled he looks at both umpires and has a chat with Sharma.Continues with the puzzled look and technically forces the review. But wise enough not to make it official.Gamesmanship bordering on fraud.

He was trying to be as polite and diplomatic as possible as well. Should have just told them straight what he thought of the decision and umpire, it would have been hilarious to see the Indian commentators reactions to that.

Mind you, can you remember Waqar getting his knickers in a twist when he couldn't understand umpires call. Tbf, I think it was relatively new at the time.
Knickers in a knot ? Let's hope the Indian wickety doesn't follow suit 🙈

I thought we fought really really hard there

Rohit was unlucky not to go early, rode his luck, then played really well

Umpire a disgrace mind, so was the commentrary bar Butcher who stood his ground
Mo a bit loose at times, but you just cant knock him really, remember how loose Leach was first test in Sri Lanka?

Would Bess have done better is the question
