India v England - 4th Test

England will never dominate in international cricker due to 2 factors:

Weather

Format of county game, whereby 450 plus professionals earn a career out of cricket, whereby that number should be closer to 200 (ie, 9 counties)
but for a spell we were no1 in tests, holders of the t20 world cup and in the top 3 of odis

is that not a side who, for a year of so was dominant?

i cant understand why you are so up for cook, yet decry anything that anderson, swann etc etc do.

an essex bias? surely not

'a spell' is hardly dominating, soon as we stepped foot in Asia, we plummeted

lessons have been learned though at test level

1-1 in sri lanka

2-1 at present in india, possibly 3-1 in a couple of days, a result that not even the aussies could manage at their peak

and even in that pakistan series in dubai, we dominated them in the odis 4-0 iirc

You're either on a massive WUM  or not very clued up.

We've beaten everyone we could beat over the last 5 or so years - with the only real exception of SA. I've left out Pakistan because they weren't at home. What else do we have to do to prove we're a top quality Test side? In your eyes?

Is India no longer in Asia?!

Love Test Cricket me lads. Don't know what I'm ganna dee next week when it's all over .

Mind in relation to India not being arsed, that's bollocks. They do love their T20 but Test cricket should always be the bread and butter. I personally would much rather watch a Test Match.

Watch the Aus v Sl series 8-)

They do care, they cared enough to battle their win to the top of the rankings. Test cricket is the only version I ever bother with.

You do have a fair point, to a degree, but we seem to be learning from our mistakes now. Saying that, we still havent really been tested against world class spin since we were skittled by Ajmal.

brother has tickets for the boxing day test at the MCG.

Tremendous. Its a joy watching Clarke at the mo and I have a soft spot for Sri Lanka as I love the country and its people. Should be a decent series.

Of course England can dominate international cricket. They have done briefly and i believe that they are on the up once again. To suggest that India are not interested in Test cricket shows your ignorance of the passion for the game in that part of the world. The weather does not come into it as English players play in all conditions, in all parts of the world, from a relatively young age. Are we not currently beating India at thier own game ? County cricket is much more competitive for youngsters to enter. I would argue that it is somewhat irrelevant anyway based on the fact that the cream will always rise to the top and the likes of Cook , Root, Broad and Finn will play very little County cricket during thier careers. England are in good shape and i am delighted that we have 10 Ashes tests on the horizon.

Love boycott bingo me like, just got a full house. Hes thrown a new Geoffrey'ism in as well, when talking about pakistan, "before terrorism", like terrorism was invented in 2001.

Eh? What the fuckety is he going on about? You listening to radio?

It was a brilliant bit of commentary from Sir Geoff. Talking about small crowds in Pakistan for Test matches and moving to day/night Tests to encourage crowds. Because 'even before terrorism you couldn't give the tickets away'.

Wish Dhoni and Kholi would start thinking about IPL and Big Bash. Theyre not meant to be interested in Test cricket

and my wish comes true. Thinking of the Big Bash
