India v England 3rd Test Rajkot

Nothing they did today was anything like the approach we took in the Ashes in the first two tests.

I think they've learned from that and hope it continues tomorrow.
I am not soo sure mate tbh.

It’s risk reward cricket that has undoubtedly been successful under this regime.

It seems to me not necessarily you,but that some posters are happy to applaud positive cricket that gives us outstanding chances to win games on flat wickets that historically would have draws or defeats in the past.

Yet at the same time can be critical when batsman get out to those positive shots that have contributed to putting us in strong positions in the first place!

The perfect balance you seem to be hoping for between attack and defence in reality will not happen.

I take the rough with the smooth and this teams results and entertainment mean I am more than happy to accept that on occasions this risky style of play will fall flat on its face.

Thats the way I look at it, sure its fine discussing whats wrong with it, on occasion, but be honest, as the scores stand, a few years ago England would have been batting for a draw as soon as India posted over 400..these days its.."Owt could happen" If it goes wrong , it goes wrong, but when it goes right , as it often does , its a great watch

I just watched them do it today. All I'm asking for is more of the same tomorrow.

Bat the day(I'm not sure anyone can argue this isn't the best outcome for us) and were laughing as the runs will have taken care of themselves.

I don't know. if they bowl 5 bouncers and over at Duckett and Pope I don't expect they will leave them. The approach and the ideal isn't any different IMO its just sometimes in the heat of battle when you are trying to be positive it isn't always easy to do the right thing. Today England have been able to move the game along at pace playing this way - if India found a way of starving runs we would take more risks - they just haven't managed to do that.

Generally you are correct, but test cricket is different in India and you really don’t want to bat late in the game. Pushing their batting innings back, even if we aren’t scoring, is highly beneficial to us.
Only concussion withdrawals allow a replacement - possibly something that needs reforming in this day and age
Yes doesn’t particularly feel fair. Similar to when Jimmy went off 4 overs into the ashes test. Massive handicap for a side

Sad news hope all is well. Want the best players on the pitch.

Can't think of this happening before. Wonder if rules to allow for a replacement(I doubt there is)

I was reading on the socials (I know ) that a replacement can be allowed if both captains agree.

Stokesy absolutely has to make this happen.
I'm still a bit worried about following on lol

Need another 48 runs.

Hope everything is ok for Ashwin. I hope they allow for a replacement on this occasion, it’s set up to be such a good test and be a shame if this gave an unfair advantage

From what I can tell the replacement is allowed if both captains agree. In this case it seems like it’s natural to agree (love cricket me)

Do think the law needs tightening tho, seems open to being gamed. If he’d tweaked a calf and then pretended to have a family emergency (for avoidance of doubt I don’t think this is the case), then it becomes smoke and mirrors

Anyone having problems with TNT coverage. I can only get sound - no picture. If that is the case tomorrow then I am going to listen to Bumble.

Doesn’t sound good, hope everything is ok

The most Stokes/McCullum thing ever would be to try and override the rules and let them replace him with Washington

I agree England should allow a replacement for Ashwin, and I wish him and his family well.

Question though ….. If Stokes had a family emergency ( hypothetical question only ) do you think the Indians would allow us to have a replacement?

Just wondering aloud…..
