ID checks for away tickets

If you're a no-show, you'll get picked for the next game you buy for. After missing Man City, I got picked for Brighton. After showing ID there, nothing since.

Yeah exactly. Which makes sense right? That's how you weed out those resellers, without pissing off your standard fans.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get another ID check next season as well, because it makes sense to be checking in on the no-shows.

Mental as she was unwell that day and no time to change over.

I get why it’s done but in some circumstances common sense should prevail.

Agreed, this is why there should be a full consultation with fans and setting of clear, sensible and fair rules before fully implementing any checks and punishments. I would even say that it's fair for a couple to transfer the ticket between each other (and maintain the loyalty points) depending on who is able to take their kid that weekend (as long as adult and child are purchased together). As with anything though, this could be open to abuse. I think most sensible people would agree that there should be some kind of flexibility.

I think once you've ID'd once, you go on the proper random basis. They're after the people who pass on numbers all the time, not the fan who does it very occasionally.

Your 50% is not a statistic since a sample size of 10 is not mathematically sufficient to be statistically relevant in this case.
….but in this case is obviously better than no statistic at all.

The only actual facts we have about passing on of tickets is that at one game, 60% of people didn’t go to the ticket office as directed to gain access to the ground.

We had to draw our own conclusions as to why they wouldn’t do this.

The club mentioned a sanctions policy in the RAWA minutes. A search of AskSAFC doesn't bring anything up (much of it seems to be ChatGPT drivel which hasn't been proofread). The SAFC ticketing T&Cs also dont go into any detail.

I am not against ID checks but the ticket office need to be clear and transparent about what they are doing and expect from fans. With the England Travel Club all rules, T&Cs, cap numbers are fully published by the FA so you know where you stand but SAFC dont do this. A lot of the issues with ticketing the club could resolve with better communication.

You’ve literally just mocked people who go every week at the expense of other commitments. By your own admission you wouldn’t do that.

And then you want to be able to choose a game to go to instead of a those to whom it isn’t just a ‘nice day out’ - it’s a way of life and a complete obsession
Indeed, it's closed shop and those in it refuse to even discuss how it could be made more equitable.

The premise that the only people who can go to away games are those who are obsessed and sacrifice everything else isn't healthy.

Had to move away for family or work commitments - tough
Not old enough to have gone to the games in League 1 - tough
Anything that threatens my strangle hold on getting tickets for every single away game - tough

I agree there should be a scheme for young people. Ringfence 100 tickets only for under 23s

But any adult over age 23 has had plenty of chance to build points. They just didn’t. Wonder why.

FWIW I have sacrificed various career opportunities or ended up worse thought of w, damaged many relationships  and made various serious decisions purely to follow the lads. 40 years ago I even chose my university based on remaining local. You and your small child do not deserve a ticket over someone like that, not even for one game, because you see it as a day out like a pop concert.

…..and yet you come on here labelling fellow fans “virgin weirdos” for giving up days of their lives laying out displays for Remembrance Sunday.

If this is how “real fans” behave, I’ll stick to my 10-15 games a season.

You spout some shite mind

What's surprising is that 70% of the tickets selected for checks at a game were apparently being used fraudulently.
Thats not actually true as we know that at least one of those 7 was ill as he posts on here. His ticket just wasn't used and there was nothing 'fraudulent' about it.

Additionally as that person was checked again at the next away game then I assume the other 6 were as well. If they were no shows again, then that's 6 people lost their loyalty points and 6 less people selling tickets on. I think that's a result.

That’s not a healthy relationship with the game.

You don’t get it mate - the culture of football supporting, and particularly away ends.

All of your chat on this thread makes sense now mind.

You’re a sanitised bloke who wants a consumer experience and therefore can’t understand why he can’t just choose when to be a consumer

Think he has to be on a wind up to be fair 😅

Yea, that’s far better than someone who sacrifices his career, education and family.

Which other scenario would your view be acceptable?

Only regulars allowed in the pub?

Just regular shoppers allowed in the shop?

Only frequent diners allowed in the restaurant.

Borderline “are you local” stuff
