ID checks for away tickets

That would make for a shitter away end

Always crap atmospheres when we have bigger allocations and it’s full of families making a day of it and groups of lads who are there only to get pissed
Take your point as some of best away ends have been smaller (Hillsborough in play offs one sticks in mind) but also been part of some class big away ends too, it would give the opportunity for more groups of youngens to travel too

When branch leader give out our Brentford tickets there was no way of checking who’s ticket matched anyway. Must be more a digital ticket thing surely?

I matched the ticket with the season ticket number the ticket was for and ensured each member has the correct tickets. Paper tickets are just as likely to be subject to ID checks as digital. It took some time to sort out but worth it so I don't have any worries about people in the branch having the incorrect ticket and being subject to a check.

The way to sort this out for all prem clubs is for the prem to force clubs to offer a percentage of the total ground capacity like the FA cup. Smaller clubs can agree on a smaller allocation and then the home club can sell off the extra seats to their home fans. It would mean that most people in the ground would be there on their own custom numbers. It would also have the effect of improving the atmosphere in these big stadia making a better product for tv.

They already do. Clubs have to offer the higher of 3,000 or 10% of capacity. Away clubs can accept a lower allocation if they don't think they can sell the full amount.

Paul Scrafton, he's an... interesting character. Goes to every game home and away and is well known on social media. Runs a Facebook group for sharing away tickets. No doubt started off with the best intentions to help others but it's undoubtedly abused now.

I knew a Paul Scrafton back in the 70's - canny footballer& cricketer went to Thornhill School, drank in the Rosedene and now lives in NCL.
Any relation - it's not a common name.

  • Any ‘Red Lights’ at the turnstiles and you will be directed to the Away Ticket Office.

Taking from the Email we have got today about Everton away. It looks like they won’t be pre warning anymore about ID checks

That’s just bog standard when tickets don’t work normal security stuff don’t think it will be the I’d checks happened to me at Swansea last season.

Really think the communication has been poor here mind. I said earlier that I think it's fair enough to make sure the right people are attending, but it's just really poor in terms of communication.

They should clearly state what they're doing (people didn't know if it was just a man city thing initially), why they're doing it (what is the problem, do they have any ideas/ estimates about how widespread it is), what people need in terms of ID and how they'll be notified. I don't think it's right that you could travel to an away ground and, with no notification, find you need ID (that you might not normally carry, depending on what they accept) and have to go to the ticket office. You might be getting to the ground right before kick off if you think you can just get straight in

Once they've done checks for a few weeks, they should communicate again to say what the results are, is it really a widespread issue or are 99% of the tickets in the right hands? To do it with no communication, then seemingly change the goalposts (from an email before the game, that people might have missed because they didn't communicate that they'd send them, to no notification at all), just doesn't seem right.

We'll have people on relatively high points missing out at the minute so of course it's right to make sure those with the tickets are those who have put the miles in (a few seemed to suggest the crowd at spurs was different to normal and there comments etc about it being a rare away game). But equally the people who travel dedicate a lot of time and money to the club, did so throughout the dark days in most cases, and they need to be treated with absolute respect. This seems to miss the mark imo
