ID checks for away tickets

Give ower
Mate of mine was using his brothers ticket at man utd. The ticket wouldn't scan and he was sent to the ticket office. They asked for ID but he couldn't produce his brother's ID, and was refused a ticket. He kicked up wholly he'll but still didn't get a ticket. He went back to the turnstiles tried again and it eventually worked.

It was a technical problem, not a random check. Man utd are still having problems with their turnstiles

The loyalty points don't award the loyal though. The points drop just makes it fastest finger first . Should just have to apply and then be told if your successful to get a ticket . Thst way the most loyal are rewarded
That's similar to what the mags do

Fair enough If they are doing this but they need to make it very clear from the outset, as we left yesterday afternoon to come to York for the snooker and my lass and my mate haven't got photo ID on them , only found out about this at midnight last night when we came out of the venue.

Luckily we haven't been selected this time but going forward every single away fan is going to have to have photo ID on them at all times just in case this happens , and the club need to communicate that

Also, they need to make sure this doesn't add 10-15 mins onto getting into the ground

It 100% will add time, ticket offices are always busy match day, especially in the hour before ko, I’ve noticed this year it’s taking excessively long to get though security and turnstiles, the last thing you need is a 20 minute wait for this bollox

i think the club should have communicated at the start of the season there could be id checks at away games. i wonder if the randomness is to catch people out who might try to get round it, sort of like advance warning of a workplace inspection where everything is clean and tidy unlike it usually is. saying that, if it is photo id that's canny hard to get round.

we had to pick tickets up at chelsea and fulham. chelsea took about 10 minutes once we were directed to the right ticket collection point and fulham was in a few seconds. we usually get to the ground early like, i'd imagine it would be a bit chaotic nearer kick off.
Not in the business of shape shifting marra?
could people not just take a selfie and say 'aye, that's me'

They just need to make it very clear that you MUST have photo ID on you at all times.

Then if you get selected on the day your prepared. 2 out of us 3 haven't got photo ID and it's too late for today. Luckily we haven't been selected but I reckon a massive amount of prior don't carry photo ID

Modern football finds new way to dick fans who are already travelling half the country and spending their week's hard earned 👏
. fortunately the football on the pitch is making it worthwhile but it's getting harder and harder to just simply go and watch a football game on a Saturday afternoon

And an away day with your mates , travelling for hours to get to say Manchester, meeting up with folk, it sounds trivial but 15/20 minutes is precious time pre match.

Exactly this. f***ing communicate it in plenty of time.

Sneaking it out the night before is horrible.
