Hume Hybrid Role

Mayenda was probably the laziest player on the pitch yesterday. I don't know what it is about him at times, but his attitude is a little too cool and he does very little to help his team mates out. When he gets opportunities like the one he got yesterday, he should be busting a gut to be in the managers eye, but he continues to swan about.

The best pass of the game didn't come from anyone on our team.

Here we go again. Absolute claptrap from someone who just spouts off.
Mayender (8.16) covered the same distance as Brobbery (8.36) however played 15 minutes less.
Sadiki (who is lauded as the most energetic player at the club covered 10.57 and at the time he went off covered around about the same as Mayender.

So, how has he been lazy?
Is he not helping his team mates out or is he just running around for the fun of it?

The hardest working player in terms of distance covered was Le Fee if you are remotely interested.

"Here we go again?".....what complete and utter bollocks from you btw.

So, because Mayenda strolled around a bit it's ok is it? What did he actually do with the ball to feet?.....f#ck all. I don't expect Brobbey to cover a lot of ground, he's supposed to be upfront and take up positions around the oppositions goal.

Ok. I accept you have no idea about football.

It’s coz he’s not frantic anough waving his arms about shouting etc people think he’s lazy

Why does RLB keep insisting that Hume can play some kind of hybrid role in the team?

At times hes playing RCB/CM when we've played 5 at the back.

Today he played a kind of RM/CM hybrid.

It has never worked once and should be immediately put on the scrapheap.
Actually it worked well against Palace.

I think today Geertruida should have been a direct replacement for Xhaka and then that would have left a straight choice between Hume and Mukiele at Rb and Mukiele wins that hands down.
Personally im concerned that gerty has been tapped up and is pushing for a move in january as i cannot see any other reason for him not playing yesterday ...i would guess he was either injured or not in the right mindset as im sure we would have him contracted till the summer and hes trying to break it somehow!...... i am also hoping that this is bollocks and he was just a carrying a knock!

We had the extra man in CM at Palace and Hume was wide right, drifting in. Yesterday Hume was that central midfielder with Mayenda going out wide and they both struggled.
Yes, totally agree. Yesterday we simply didn't replace Xhaka who is clearly pivotal to our system. It was really difficult to work out what we were trying to do. Hume had an awful game but the whole set up seemed to confuse the players. Normally the players seem really clear about their instructions. Yesterday they looked like strangers and generally unhappy.

Well that's complete and utter bollocks.

I just want him to do what he's paid to do, and yesterday he was very poor. Pretty simple stuff really.
The stats of ground covered have been presented to you you can’t blame the wingers in a game where we can’t pass ball 5 yards

I need to rewatch but I thought Mayenda was up top in a 4-4-2 and Hume right. Then it shifted into 5-4-1 with Hume and Mayenda shifting back one line each

Hume is a midfielder he just played complete shit today he had a 10 minute spell where he gave the ball away every time he got it and gave them a penalty - I think that happens if hes right back or right midfield just a shit day at the office like Mundle, Reinildo and mayenda. I do think we should have shift le fee to the left and put gerts on mind as they were killing us down the wings. BTW I really rate hume and think he will spend a lot of his career in the prem.
I would suggest hume wont spend most of his career in prem even at his supposed best rb position. He gets skinned time and again which generally causes him to foul. Cant pass a ball but now and again will put in a hard crunching tackle which for some reason is the be all end all for some sunderland fans. Mukielie has shown how bang average hume actually is at right back. Never have got the hume love in.

I'd agree with this tbh. Hes good when it's a bit backs to the wall defending. Leave him one on one against a defender that takes him on there's generally only one winner.

I thought Nordi was terrified of Summervilles pace and just kept backing off, he is a better player then Hume no doubt but he can be suspect defensively 1 on 1. He's excellent at covering long balls down channels as reads the game and has some pace.

also replying to @ab 65 - just my thoughts

With the lad who has been injured recently and that Liverpool loanee not looking to be signed it could have some traction this one.

The amount of people writing Hume off on this thread is ridiculous, he had 1 bad game, wins you necks in.
In terms of development, which is what we're supposed to be about, he's one of our most progressive players. From nowhere to captain of his country, multi award winner with said awards bestowed via Irish fans or the their controlling board, not as suggested by some of our regular moaners a gaggle of less knowledgeable SAFC fans impressed by a mere hard tackle or three.

He's also an EPL regular, chosen and nurtured by a gaffer who clearly knows what he's doing. Yet, at 23 years old, he's deemed to be "Shite" and surplus to requirements by a couple of knackers on here. :)

Assuming Xhaka's still injured:

......................Roefs......................
Mukiele.Ballard Alderete Reinildo
.......Geertruida........Sadiki...........
Diarra............Le Fee...........Talbi
.....................Brobbey..................

Subs:
Patterson
Hume O'9 Cirkin
Adingra Rigg Mundle
Mayenda Isidor
Sounds like Patterson could be sold
