Why does RLB keep insisting that Hume can play some kind of hybrid role in the team?

At times hes playing RCB/CM when we've played 5 at the back.

Today he played a kind of RM/CM hybrid.

It has never worked once and should be immediately put on the scrapheap.

I think today Geertruida should have been a direct replacement for Xhaka and then that would have left a straight choice between Hume and Mukiele at Rb and Mukiele wins that hands down.

He hasn’t been to be fair. He has had a good season and generally stepped up. Today though he was dropped into centre midfield while we have better options sat on the bench. He isn’t a centre midfielder and it shown today in such a bad way for him.

Tin hat on. In a 5 at the back I can kind of see it. Him at RB, Mukiele CB but when we get the ball he can make another in CM and Mukiele gets up the line, probably gives us options. He was f***ing awful today though, and I'm pissed so probably making no sense at all

Struggling to recall an individual performance as bad as that today. I don’t think a single pass found a Sunderland player. He missed a golden chance to equalise with a free header at the back post and then gave away a ridiculous penalty hanging his leg out nowhere near the ball.

Should’ve been hooked after 20 minutes.
