Hume Hybrid Role

At least RLB hooked him at half time. Yes it should probably have been sooner but you don’t really want to be hooking your captain before half time. Hopefully he’s seen its utter f***ing madness to have Hume playing a makeshift role ahead of a 30m AFCON winner. I mean frankly RLB should be in front of KLD explaining himself it’s that ridiculous

Struggling to recall an individual performance as bad as that today. I don’t think a single pass found a Sunderland player. He missed a golden chance to equalise with a free header at the back post and then gave away a ridiculous penalty hanging his leg out nowhere near the ball.

Should’ve been hooked after 20 minutes.
his passing has always been shocking which baffles me more how regis thinks he’s paul scholes

Lets not chuck the baby out with the bathwater as hes been good overall this season

But the RW & CM role is just shite

Why does RLB keep insisting that Hume can play some kind of hybrid role in the team?

At times hes playing RCB/CM when we've played 5 at the back.

Today he played a kind of RM/CM hybrid.

It has never worked once and should be immediately put on the scrapheap.
Along with Hume himself. That would be a grand takeaway from today.

Regis doesn't want to drop him so is finding a 'system' that keeps him in the team regardless. i like Hume and he's been absolutely brilliant for us. but he shouldn't be in our strongest eleven. we've been ruthless with everyone else but he seemingly doesn't want to go there with him

This 👍

Le Bris has got it wrong with Hume. He is a full back. we had better options today and Hume had a nighymate. Le Brisput him in a role he couldn't fulfill.

It works when we play top sides as he drops into a 5 but against most teams we need an option to stretch the game.

We've had some joy when he drifts in giving Mukiele space to drive into but then if the ball is overturned there's a huge space for teams to drive into at pace.

He should be our back up RB and thats it. It worries me that RLB can even consider him in the roles he plays him.

He was praised for it not too long ago, as was Le Bris for the tactical flexibility.

I don't think Hume playing a hybrid role is a point blank 'must stop'. It's served us well at times. But where it hasn't really worked is when we've only had two midfielders in there. He looked lost trying to play two unnatural roles when we were already light in there. Compared with last week when him doing that allowed us to keep 3 in midfield whilst Le Fee got forward.
Jesus Christ.

He was playing CM today - hope that 45 mins is enough to never see it again

It does work when we are 5 at the back and we have that holding midfielder

It has worked really well at times

We should of played that way today with Gerty or Rigg holding

Today went wrong we were wide open and I am sure RLB seen that hence the 3 changes at half time
