How do you feel about the Ashes?

The Times reporting it will go ahead as families will have their own resort, whether in queensland or victoria

Wisden pod made a good point today, saying basically the ECB awaiting on Root to commit really, and they wouldnt take a squad without him as he is so key

Stokes will not go

Buttler the only other player who might not be apart of it, in terms of senior guys

Christ Stokes must not be in a good place, what a shame that he will never play in Australia in the prime years of his career, I wonder if he will even see him at all any time soon? It appears extremely unlikely.

This is no slight at Stokes, but you have to feel for Root, I do anyway, we just cant win without Stokes IMO, and he has to head there again without him

Plus no Archer too who would be vital

Its gonna be a nightmare cricket wise like :lol:

Australia aren't even that good like, just got 2 brilliant bowlers and 2 brilliant batsman, and they can play in their own conditions. But I'd be amazed if we dont get hammered

Evn on the last series over there, tin hat on, but we weren't really that bad, we actually batted periods of time and bowled dry and solid at times, we just cant last 5 days in those conditions, for the big scores you need or the fitness and pace you need to take wickets.
 

Ah well. Winter just wouldn’t be winter without waking up to news of some English cricketing disaster on some foreign field.
Re Stokes, tbh I never expected him to make this tour. It’s the last place you’d want to go if you’re in a bad way. If he isn’t back by next summer I honestly doubt we’ll ever see him again.

Not sure about them being on the up. Their white ball form is poor, talk a lot of the players don’t like Langer and lost their last test series against India.

They’ll still hammer us mind especially if Stokes isn’t there

India are the best all round test team at the moment. But comparing us and the Aussies I think some of their better players are in their prime and some of ours are still good but their better days are behind them.
Put it this way if this series was going to be played in England then Australia would push us close but in Australia they will beat us comfortably.
 
I'm not sure it was ever really in much doubt, you don't release all this to the media until you are bartering for something (instead you just pull out quietly).
 
Jeez, Stokes would be out of the game for 7 months come the end of the Ashes, gutted for him and us as cricket fans
 
My main goal now is not to get myself banned on here before the ashes. As that would be a nightmare
