The only chink of light is that Adelaide and the pink ball test is first up rather than Brisbane. If Jimmy is going to have success it’ll most likely be there.

England batsmen have poorer records because they’re worse players, not because they have to bat in England
He was never likely to average 45 with the bat. He’s exceeded expectations for me so far in tests.
Less so in T20s.

Before it goes behind the paywall it says that he was ‘already unlikely to play in the Ashes’. So doesn’t sound great to me.
The fact that the 2nd operation has been deemed a success sounds great to me. I think it was already accepted that he'd miss the ashes.
its not good news like, nothing remotely on the horizon as important as this winter sadly.

BA (who have links with Root) reporting that Stokes will be having intensive physio on his finger over the next four weeks so sounds like he’s still in the frame to some degree.
