How come so few people turn up for midweek games?

Aye, standing on the terrace was far better for keeping warm....able to move around a bit compared to sitting still on a freezing plastic seat.
 

Reality is we don't have any more than around 27/28k loyal fans. League 1 proved that, and so do these notice boards as some of the whoppers on here are commenting on you tube commentary!

I thought 37k on a freezing cold night, when it's on the red button and, let's be honest, we were not in great form prior to last night, wasn't bad.

Me and the bloke who sits next to me used to ensure we never touched each other years ago, fighting for leg room.

That's long gone and we were virtually cuddling last night at one point to keep warm.

Atmosphere had been dead home and away (bar Leicester) for around 10 games now.

There’s a few thousand stood every home match across the South Stand and SWC and has been since away fans moved, and before that the entire SWC had stood for years?

And a mid table 2nd tier side.
 
I still turn up for midweek games but made a decision not to do Fridays, Saturday lunch times, Sunday's And even Monday night's when they return but then , I 'm one of the old guard who know real football.

You seem to have been fixated on the crowd numbers last night.

I think the real focus was that the supporters turned up despite the awful weather. It’s a pity that the team didn’t….
 
The fact that Mowbray and the players treat the game like a keep ball training session and it was about -100 degrees probably didn't help like.

Saturday evening kick off at 8pm is a killer. Everyone glued to a screen, killing the atmosphere in a pub. Believe it or not, when the lads are away on a Saturday, I don't follow any of the football, preferring to get all the scores in one mad rush at 5. Nowt like the teleprinter of the sixties. Or ITN News at Ten reading out the the early season midweek scores at 10.25 pm before local radio was invented.
 
I'll go to every home match regardless of the weather because I paid for a season ticket and I'll never change that.

But I don't blame people for not going to mid-week games because of the situation with bus strikes and of course, the God-awful weather. I did see a few missing from my row, but if you have work or other commitments during the week then you can't really be blamed for not going.
 
When i had access to transport i finished work at 17:30 alternating with 18:00, bit of a rush needed to travel 300 miles for a 19:45 ko.

There will be thousands in a similar situation plus shift workers, people whose partners work evenings and have children to care for.

If you're talking about Go North East I'd assume the mags are in the same situation as us yet they are still full for midweek. No doubt it may stop a few fans from attending but not 10k+.

And this has been going on long before any bus strikes. It's not something that's just happened this season.
