Honeyman to Hull?

I think the fans have got behind Honeyman to be honest. I can’t remember the fans getting on any players back at the match last season. If Honeyman can’t cope with a few groans at the match then he shouldn’t be here anyways. He’s got a great attitude which I’ll always appreciate but when you’re chasing promotion you need to have the ability too and that’s where I feel he lacks.

Everyone got behind him in the premier league and in the championship too. After a while I think some people just started getting sick of him playing poorly week after week.

The fact that JR wouldn’t sub him & would move his position in a game to avoid subbing him pissed me right off.

Hope so. I don't hate him but I also don't know what he's good at and him leaving means Ross won't persist on wasting the number 10 spot on him or the captaincy.

Someone needs to be scapegoat for last season...and as captain I expect him to fall on his sword..

Not as bad as people make out. In the end he played maybe 30 league games in a team that finished 5th. He can’t be that shit.

When we had good lazy players, people craved homegrown players that had heart. I was more than comfortable with a try hard academy product as captain frankly.

And who’s next captain? Mcgeady is the only player that people can probably unite on as being popular but he’s hardly captain material
He’s been part of the problem for two seasons. He has no quality or strength or mobility . He’s a contributing factor in Sunderland being relegated from the second tier and not getting out of the third tier . We have slept walked through the last two seasons

He's not a number 10 and will never be captain material. By giving him those responsibilities, Ross created problems for him.

If you want someone who can give you energy, is versatile, and will get you the odd goal, Honeyman can do a decent job. He'll be fine as a solid Championship squad player. If he's starting every week like, you're clearly not aiming very high.
How do you know he's not captain material ? I know nothing about him other than he's not a great footballer. Ross and Ball think that he is and they know him quite well I would have thought.

If we sell him for 3 million and invest in three or four then it isn’t bad business from our perspective but it’s a concern that we are willing to sell our captain at the first offer

Thank fuck for that. Loves the club and runs around loads, offers absolutely nothing else.

Best piece of business we've done all Summer if he left on a free never mind getting money for him.

2 - 3 million being mentioned apparently 😯
Attention to Hull: we are genuinely gutted you are getting him at this price. Easily a £10m + player.

How do you know it’s the first offer?

Agreed.
And as I've said before on here, Catts would have been my choice to be the team captain, instead of Honeyman.
After all, it was mainly Catts, who was constantly cajoling his colleagues, and barking out the orders on the pitch, last season.

I don’t understand all of this clamour for Maddison. When ever I see him he has been a 1 in 4 highlights player. May have some talent but will never spend more than two seasons in the championship. We would be doing him a big favour.

Thank christ. If he wasn't local, the happy clappers wouldn't be defending him....

Ashley fletcher got absolutely hammered even though he put a shift in, he wasn’t that that bad imo. If honeyman had came on loan from somewhere then he’d have got dogs abuse for some of his performances.

Some ridiculous reactions by so called fans on here. Not the greatest player in the world but as bad as people make out. I'm not disappoint if he goes but we will be a bit weaker if he does. I wish him all the best.

If you’re describing him as not the greatest of player and if we’re in league 1 then surely you can see why the reaction is as it as? Especially as we’re getting money for him.
