Plenty will try. If they fill the pot holes in, the smaller narrower cars might get across that bridge.

unless your going from gateshead to shields, get caught up at heworth & by the time you get to port of tyne you've missed rush hour

As long as they’ve got two lanes open during rush hour, there’s no need for any traffic lights on that roundabout, so the traffic should flow better than normal, albeit with a bit more cars using the bypass.

My daughter (no) has an interview in Jesmond in couple weeks time , has to drive from where works in seaham , can get away at4 and interview is 5... so , should she drive via felling by pass n heworth and still to go over Tyne bridge or is better option now to go through Tyne tunnel ?

Tyne Tunnel will be shit because of road works on the other side and 30mph limit.

Agreed, get off at A184 turn-off , and then onto the Tyne Bridge and up. Either way will be cutting it fine.

I'd come off then go over Redheugh Bridge. Can normally do Silky to Newcastle in around 45 mins that way in traffic.

Surely if you can’t go left or right, they should sack the lights off and just let the traffic flow and instruct buses not to use the bus lane so they don’t need to filter in at the end. I thought they also stated two lanes would be open during peak periods?

A1 has slightly more traffic to it this morning, I’d imagine it’s only gonna get worse as people start to get sick of sitting in the traffic at Heworth. Oh the joys

Just been through. Quite busy heading newcastle bound. The usual mile long que in one lane before it merges. Plenty doing the correct thing and flying past them all straight to the front.

walking dog at 5:30 and rat run for pelaw was busy with more taffic. , people going to work early & delivery's for shop's etc just wait till the school run starts.
