I'm not a season ticket holder and live in Surrey, so my chances of getting a match ticket seems to be slim to none at the moment. However my kids are keen to see Sunderland in the Premier League and so I thought I might drive up for the Leeds match, before going across to Cumbria to visit family.
Where would the best place for the kids (12 and 11) to experience the pre-match atmosphere?
Would I be able to get access to the Fan Zone without a match ticket?
Will there be anywhere in the town showing the match that is kid friendly?
Anywhere else I should take them?
Just seen on another thread that some tickets may be come available, so will be watching that closely!
To each his own, but I couldn't imagine taking my kids all that way and then not being able to get them into the stadium. The day out for your kids would be 1000x better if they actually got to go to the match

Might just want to have a look-see around the stadium tbh. He's probably not going to get tickets like.To each his own, but I couldn't imagine taking my kids all that way and then not being able to get them into the stadium.
It’s Christmas lads. He’s also going to see family. This has nothing to do with whether he can get tickets or not. He can do that another time, he’s allowed into Sunderland more than once. He just wants to know what to do on this particular occasion as he’s travelling anyway. Can’t see why this has turned into an argument.
Aye, as a kid you'd half think your dad's just been joking about not going and he's going to pull tickets out when you get there if you're walking up to the ground! Even the suggestion of going to the sea front might not be great depending on weather. That was exactly my thoughts
Seems cruel to take them to the fan zone before the match , surrounded by match going fans, and then just before kick off drag them away from the stadium to a pub
I know man. Everything has to be something, instead of just being the thing. It’s the SMB, pre Xmas drinkypoo’s like a trainee friday night defeat at home
It’s a day out. Better than sitting at home. Also not cruel if they know exactly what you’re gonna be doing. Just don’t say “we’re going to the match” then take them to a pub!!That was exactly my thoughts

Bear in mind though they’re not from round here. Being in Sunderland alone will be great for them.Oh aye if he's gonna be in Sunderland anyway, then it'll be a bit of crack going to see the crowds , the pubs , the fans museum, beacon etc... but I wouldn't go out of my way to take kids for a day out like that without adding in going to the actual match

I know, deluded rtg will be all over this.![]()
I’m actually thinking I should get social services involved at this point.Funny as fukk, fella only wanted to find out what to do now he’s bending bashes for leading his kids in and being a shit dad for teasing them![]()

I'll try and do that as well - but will be up anyhow visiting my parentsWhy not come for a game when you can get tickets?
One son plays rugby on a Saturday and the other football on a Sunday, so with that and work the logistics aren't easy. Just sods law that it's Leeds over Christmas and tickets are restricted. If you’re organised you can get a ticket for every home game apart from Leeds & Newcastle. Just be ready when the tickets are released. Only Man City I’ve missed out on
Hopefully I'll find another opportunityIf you aren't going to attend the game I'd wait for another opportunity.
You'll be able to get tickets relatively easy for all remaining home games
