If Man City didn't pay Haaland that much they'd just keep the money themselves. Currently there's £400k s week going into the system in income tax. If the figures are true iof course.Yeah but you're suggesting city can afford haaland due to the riches of the PL. That's not true. Liverpool couldn't even remotely come close to affording those kind of wages and they have a far greater world wide appeal than city do. City can afford haaland because they are owned by the UAE. PSG can afford mbappe, Messi, and neymar because they are owned by Qatar.
State owned clubs are a problem and they are inflating wages in football.
How would you pay for Trident then?Getting all that money for fuck all
Robbery
Was tongue in cheek mateI can't be arsed with the maths but you must be on a canny wedge. In 3 year I'd still be in his hourly rate I reckon

It was a joke you soft tartSomewhat massively selective in what I actually said, which just proves that you don't get it.
Ah thats alright then. State owned clubs are great. Doesn't matter if they're blatantly breaking the rules and causing hyper inflation in football which will screw many a club. And brilliant all that saudi cash being spent on the mags too.If Man City didn't pay Haaland that much they'd just keep the money themselves. I think that it isnt necessarily about Gulf state ownership. There are private individuals and corporate entities who could/would bankroll this sort of spend because of the the potential rewards or vanity The sort of money we are talking about here is run of the mill in US sports and the owners aren't from the Middle East. The TV deals for those leagues are on a par with the PL. Hence the US investors in the PL.Yeah but you're suggesting city can afford haaland due to the riches of the PL. That's not true. Didn't say that, that's a different argument.Ah thats alright then. State owned clubs are great. Doesn't matter if they're blatantly breaking the rules and causing hyper inflation in football which will screw many a club. And brilliant all that saudi cash being spent on the mags too.
How many US sports teams have taken a billion pound to assemble? The wage bills of NFL and NBA teams are nowhere near as large as city's.I think that it isnt necessarily about Gulf state ownership. Liverpool will change hands at some point. Look at the feeding frenzy over Chelsea.
In short, if it wasn't the UAE, it would be someone from California.
The point is the UAE shouldn't be allowed to own man city. Qatar shouldn't be able to own PSG. And the hideous saudi state shouldn't be able to own our neighbours. Even leaving their disgusting human rights records to one side they have wealth that destroys football as a fair competition.Didn't say that, that's a different argument.
As they do own them I'd rather they put a shit load of money into the British economy via their employees paying income tax. If Abu Dhabi didn't sign Haaland they'd still own Man City.

And individuals from California can't match the wealth of rich gulf states.
Gulf states have unequal wealth and damage football as fair competition.
