Government cash for Washington

How much has been cut from the budgets of the Councils who will get this cash since Austerity was imposed in 2010???

Since 2010, Sunderland has had its spending power cut by a third under the Government's austerity programme as more than £290m has been taken out of budgets. The council has also reduced its staffing by more than half to less than 3,000 - a reduction of more than 5,000.

Been on at the councillors for a while to get street lights put in on the path from Lambton subway to the Galleries (through Princess Anne Park).
The state of the paths in Washington in general are shocking, mainly due to age and tree roots making them so bad to walk on... add to that the poor lights they're are challenge for the less able.

Pitch black through some of that path in prinny.

Particularly the path from lambton/xclose side to biddick side. Not sure if that has working lights now.

So the Tories have taken away a big pile of cash from these Local Authorities and are now flicking pennies at them and expect us to be grateful??

As a resident of Washington I would like this spent on Snipers-their targets middle aged men walking about in the latest Saudi Utd away strips. Think of it like a seagull cull. It’s worse now than when football got re invented in 1992.
It's absolutely lifting mind.

Proper part time (if even that tbh) mags as well.

Pre 2021 you might have seen the odd top being worn about Concord on a weekend but now it seems like every 5th person there and knocking about in the Galleries. It's bizarre wishing to wear football colours at almost every opportunity in every social, non footballing setting.

95 plus percent of Washington mags don't even attend games. In terms of actual, knowledgeable and down to earth footballing folk - Washington is still overwhelmingly SAFC.

Yeah, neglected for that long I think the whole lot need ripping up and redoing. Instead they patch more serious problems (badly). Just wasting money with half arsed repairs which need doing again after a year or so.

You mean the path down the bank (talking a right after that subway)? If lights are out there it's probably due to the cable running along the bank which is exposed in some places. Had a walk around with councillors a few months back pointing out issues (like the eroded path down there) . Waiting to hear what's going to be done. They did spend £100k repairing paths and car park there earlier this year but it needs a lot more spent on it.

It's definitely ramped up since they became a sportswashing project
