Gordon Armstrong

Armstrong wasn’t a shit player.

Whatever anyone thinks of his twitter behaviour (and I personally think he’s acting like a spoilt brat), he wasn’t shit.

During his time with us he was often one of our better players and for the leagues we were in, he certainly did a job. He definitely had his critics (although a lot of it was unjustified in my opinion) he definitely wasn’t shit.

He wasn't mind.

Whatever you think of him however, there is no doubting his loyalty. He's a big Sunderland fan.

Good servant for SAFC and Sunderland fan, explain your comment please.
Better his consortium that the cockney wide boys currently in place.

And how do you know this?

Used to follow Armstrong on twitter, but he comes across as a very bitter man now, whether he was a good servant to SAFC or not.

You can’t argue that this isn’t the lowest point in our history like mate. It’s not even in question. Worst ever finish and first time we’ve had consecutive seasons in the third tier.
Had Short still been here, we would be in the 4th tier now! There’s always a silver lining! ;)

Then why was Donald making out that promotion would be a bad thing because the wage bill goes up by £4m. And why are we looking for outside investment? We aren't on the brink of administration but were aren't exactly rolling in money.
quick somebody ring juan sartori and tell him hes not a billionaire after all

He does but he makes a few good points. In regards to the football side of things we haven't improved and seem to be carrying with the same method we had under Short. All the players we have signed have no sell on value with the exception of McLaughlin and O'Nien. We haven't used the academy to our advantage and the recruitment team has a history of failure.

If he's a billionaire why are we looking for outside investors? A billionaire would be well able to fund a League One club. A £4m increase in wages would be nothing to him. He could cover that. For instance how many billionaires do Norwich or Burnley have?

We are debt free and have gone from losing £500k a week to maing £100k a week

If you've listened to the Podcast, SD states that he had some worries about competing in the Championship when he heard that Derby's owner has put £200m in to the club, but in general he is comfortable that he/they can fund a Championship campaign without external investment
