Last couple of years Samsung have gone backwards, Sony have improved and Hisense are great value. Depending on your budget I'd recommend Sony or Hisense at the moment.

Samsung, lg. Had samsung since plasmas first came out, never had one pack in currently on a 65" oled. Class.

Largely, with tellies, you get what you pay for.
There's a little vfm advantage in certain brands, but nobody makes a £500 telly that's better than other maker's £1000 set.
Have a look on places like expertreviews and see what they recommend for under £500 and go from there. Or put a post up on AVForums.

The cheaper panasonics aren't much good now as they are made elsewhere and rebadged. The hi end one are still good though.

I've had a Panasonic for 11 years.
The Koreans I used to work with all rated LG higher than Samsung - which was hilarious since we were all employed by Samsung.
