Gooch is awful

The appeal for the penalty where he went sprinting at the ref swinging his arms normally gets a yellow all day, regardless of how bad the pen decision was.

He went thundering into a tackle not long after that (not that one that got given as a free kick) you could see he was starting to lose his head there.

Then he started tussling with that shithouse number 9 they had. Both holding onto each other and swinging each other around.

He could have quite easily gotten 2 yellows in that

He didn't get a yellow for either though. Had he got one then he might also have calmed down as a result, which he done anyway when the referee spoke to him.

What he showed last night was passion, with a hint of stupidity, but then calmness when Sheff Wed were trying to get him to react and sent off and yet people are still f***ing moaning about the potential to get sent off.

You talk about him tussling with their number 9 - that was their number nine actively trying to get him to react, similar to when Bannan and Embleton got carded.

You should be congratulating him for another assist and another mammoth performance.

I think Gooch really needs an honerable mention for him showing growth and maturity last night in the face of some top draw shithousing from Shef Wed. Also, Johnson needs praise for understanding his players and managing them effectively in game.

Although he went mental after the penalty shout and then got sucked in to some physical stuff, the fact that after LJ had a word he calmed himself down and put in the lovely cross field pass to (was it Bailey Wright?) for Stewart’s hat trick.

One of the worst things in the past about Gooch was that if the oppo could get him angry he would go right off his game and just charge around running down blind alleys and diving in. His response last night was excellent, as it was from other players getting stick, long may it continue. Don’t get angry, play to win.

Well done Gooch.

Gooch has a habit of picking up small injuries which totally messes his form up. I don't think it's a coincidence he hasn't been injured for a while and now he's starting to play well again. He always comes back from injury poorly

Tes , exactly what I have been saying , when he first comes back into the time after an injury , it tales him longer than most players to get his form back. But once he does he is an integral part of our team. Sm sick to death of the shite Madbob, HongKong and others post about him . Idiots is being polite.

Great cross in the first half which nearly cost us the lead, no need to resort to insults.

I'm not his biggest fan, but give him credit when it's due. He's scored some great goals, had some fantastic assists. He has an abundance of talent, however, his decision making frustrates me both on and off the ball. Simple passing seems to eludes him sometimes and his tendancy to beat his man 2, 3 or 4 times frustrates me.

I honestly hope he he matures and progresses to the level I think he can play at.

You think some of the comments you have made about Gooch aren't insulting ?

I'm not sure he's integral, his versatility gets him a lot of games but I think useful would be more accurate. The club don't see him as integral either as they are letting his contract run down.

good point about his contract but Johnson likes him and usually plays him when fit

I've always liked Gooch, he gets so much unwarranted stick at times (like most players do on here past and present)

We all know he's limited, but how many players with far more talent than he has haven't even given a quarter of what he has on the field over the years?

Even if we get promoted, Sunderland need to hold onto the likes of Gooch. You need players like him in a 18-20 man squad, as much as we would love to have another 10 Aidan McGeady's its just not practical.

look its a forum, its about views, positive and negative, its not that important and dont get wound up mate.

For me, that was a huge performance from Gooch yesterday (and the last 3 or 4 games). Dajaku played RW and Wright played RB. Until Cirkin came on, Gooch ran the length of the pitch over and over again covering both LB and LW. Yeah, he ran into the odd dead end and mis judged an interception that made him look daft. It's always going to happen when covering that amount of pitch. Big improvement on his early season form, hopefully he keeps it up.
