Gigs back at sol

Even if they only broke even, the employment and income that a big concert nets the area and the publicity that it generates is something a community minded club should have always engaged in. The local council did plenty to help over the years and helping support the community/economy acknowldeges that and should be an objective of a big club. It may seem daft but the areas fortunes ARE undoubtedly linked to the football club's . Football is the only reason many people in the UK have even heard of Sunderland.

The main issue is the lack of bands that could possibly sell 35k + tickets .

These days you only have a handful of acts rhag can do it and even some of then are struggling. The rolling Stones have not sold out on any date of this tour .

Tbf, that is due to the ridiculous ticket prices.

Cost me £70 for the foo fighters in 2 weeks. Mainly as no one buys CDs anymore.

Wonder who could potentially be touirng and sell out the SOL next year

U2
Muse
Coldplay
Take that (anniversary tour)
Spice Girls

I was more commenting on the Stones mate. Iirc, it was £102 to stand behind the centre circle. If you wanted to stand closer it was £250-£500.

The bands you list, could sell out the SOL. As could ABBA if they did that daft video tour they are talking about.

Liam Gallagher could also probs shift 40,000+ tickets

Stones ended up doing £35 tickets to sell out as my brother got some for today.

Would love to see U2 at sunderland but think the tour there are on at the moment is just arenas

Must admit £80 plus to go and see these types is canny steep but plenty pay it.

If i took wor lass £160 plus expenses is a £250 night out at least, but to be fair its only now n again.Still wouldn't pay it like.

CD sales many be declining but there was still almost £46 million spent on music on physical formats last year in high street stores. If you add sales the likes of Discogs and Amazon to that CD is far from dead. Streaming is booming but there are still lots of people buying physical formats. I buy vinyl, cds and stream and lots of others do too.

I still but vinyl, got some great stuff on record store day.

Did those teeny bopper things NE live do well?

As with what others have said a more festival type thing with several bands on could be the way to go given that the number of turns that could sell 40-50k is fairly limited.

The problem with having a number of bands on is you would have to pay multiple bands and all the costs associated with that.

I would imagine there are a few more bands than what have been mentioned that could make it worth while. For instance i saw The Killers and Green Day at hyde park and it was a sell out of around 60k and that shocked me just like the tickets Sheeran has sold.
