Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

If we get promoted then it is going to be a crappy season in the PL for us. But the club gets a big cash injection and it sets us up for next time to be stronger. It's all a bit shit really, but this is the result of the PL being the land of milk and honey.

This team would get even less points than Southampton.

But with 100 million pay day would it be this team that competes in the Premier League.

If we don't go up in can see years in the doldrums in the Championship as since Xmas we have been bang average and are effectively managed by a coach with as much charisma of a " wet lettuce" .

We racked up the points we have not because RLB is a tactical genius or a great motivator its because most of the other teams are rubbish and once they nullified our plan A there is no plan B.

We face 2 and hopefully 3 Cup Finals and I just cant see RLB getting anyone up for the game as he's lucky he has enough motivation to get out of bed.

We need a leader and warrior in the dressing room a Cattermole or Kevin Ball type as judging by performances RLB team talks must send half of them to sleep.

Yeah but look at what the promoted teams have to endure to get it. I watched the Leicester and Southampton game and none of the commentators actually said anything remotely encouraging about the relegated teams. They actually delighted in their demise in the game. Nobody in the Premier League wants a promoted side in there with them. Other supporters ridicule them on message boards. It's bad enough in the Championship but it's worse in the Premier League. I am dreading that asspect.

Yes I want promotion but then I want KLD to sell up In the summer and get owners In who will take us to the next level because If we went to the premier under KLD we will go straight back down

Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.

I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
Here’s the answer after 8 years in the football league.. Yes!

Yes, we need the money man. Alternative is to lose the better players we have got and replace them and hope we improve rinse and repeat. Just don’t get these do we want to get promoted threads, might as well gan watch your local Sunday league footy if your not wanting promotion.
Do you trust our owner to spend that money on premier quality players or continue to bring in and develop young academy players?
We'd get absolutely spanked home and away against the current top 6
And the rest

It would be absolutely brutal IF we went up. By October we'd have had a handful of hammerings and our fans will have turned against anyone and everyone connected to club. Other than financial reasons, getting promoted will be such a hard watch next season and our fans won't handle it at all.

The owner’s ambition this season imo was making the playoffs. That was presumably articulated to Le Bris who achieved that target with weeks to spare.

If we took the next step and won the playoffs it’d mean a huge outlay on players, wages etc - let’s face it we’d need virtually a completely new squad to have any chance of avoiding a season of embarrassment- yes there’s a huge financial reward too but I just don’t see any evidence that our current owner thinks the club are ready for the premier league yet.

I genuinely think they’d prefer another couple of seasons of championship football with a view to gradually improving the squad to a point where the immediate outlay on players on gaining promotion wouldn’t be as enormous.
That’s exactly how I see it also.

Yes we need to go up, so we can get on a better financial footing. But, I’m not looking forward to only winning 2 to 4 games all season and getting relegated again 😭

It was pretty shit for us for most of our recent years there, and looks like it would be even worse this time. Can't disagree at all.

Even 'lower' teams like Palace are so far ahead of us, and getting humped twice by the Mags would be really bad. Still, I do think that we have to endure a difficult year in order to get the cash injection for the next time, following which things should be easier.

All this, we'd suffer for 9 months but we would all think of the lovely lolly wouldn't wash within about 6 games with outright rebellion by Christmas

There's discontent already when we've made the playoffs

We'd turn quicker than Leicester fans, insist we deserve better etc and set about making KLD a hate figure

The board have shown no ambition at all in the last few transfer windows,so the question is do the board want it.Reggie is getting it the neck but every manager we get, be it Alex Neil,Tony Mowbray, or RLB will be hung out to dry by these owners. Why do people think every manager interviewed walked away, nobody would touch it.We even had Keanno saying goodbye to fellow pundits on TV then quickly backing out.So when people start shouting for Reggies head ,just remember we are 4th with a tiny band of players to choose from. There is one common denominator ,the ownership. Those hoping to force him out will be doing it all again with the new manager

We made an £8m loss last year - the owners do back us based on that.

Always want us to but under no illusions whatsoever as to how difficult it would be. Whoever goes up from the play offs, Leeds and Burnley have a huge head start with recruitment.

For the money yes, watching us get battered every week no.

Yep, it wouldn't be everyone politely clapping and saying how hard they all tried. We've seen it plenty of times before.

Fair play to Ipswich btw, they took a lot of fans to the Mags yesterday knowing they were getting relegated.

If we get promoted then KLD will have literally taken us to the next level.. twice!

I don’t get that comment.
Are you confident he will spend any money If we went up? Then again It looks like you don't want us to go up so you probably don't care
