Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

Let's just bounce around between mid-table championship and failing in the play offs. Sounds fun.

Seriously we just need to have a go of it. If we come straight back down then deal with it and use the money to go back stronger. Surely the whole point of following the lads is to see us compete at the highest level we can?

That's the key word - compete. People don't think we will compete. Like the 3 who have went down, they haven't really been competitive.

We’ve had our chance to improve all season
However we have not
Now we are in the playoffs with a team not on the up shall we say
We need to build and progress if we want to move forward
We can still go up

Are we ever really going to be in a position where we are guaranteed to compete if we go up though? Imo you just take your chance when it comes and hope you can do enough. If not then you come down with parachute money that puts you in a much better position than not going up in the first place.

Teams who get promoted from the Championship should be rewarded with a massive cash lump sum by the Premier league on promotion . Forget parachute payments

I want to come up for the money. We get the parachute money like you say, can get better players and potentially come back stronger with a chance of staying there. Club might get sold along the way. But that's gonna come at a cost and that cost is some nasty arse kickings. Naturally there's some scars from the 15 and 19 point seasons.

To answer your question, there's never a guarantee you will compete, the gap is so big between the leagues. I think you could definitely take confidence and belief from an 100 point promotion season though. It was a different era, but when we came up with Quinn and Phillips we rightly fancied our chances. Like I say though, the gap between the league is bigger and they were exceptional players.

The board have shown no ambition at all in the last few transfer windows,so the question is do the board want it.Reggie is getting it the neck but every manager we get, be it Alex Neil,Tony Mowbray, or RLB will be hung out to dry by these owners. Why do people think every manager interviewed walked away, nobody would touch it.We even had Keanno saying goodbye to fellow pundits on TV then quickly backing out.So when people start shouting for Reggies head ,just remember we are 4th with a tiny band of players to choose from. There is one common denominator ,the ownership. Those hoping to force him out will be doing it all again with the new manager

Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.

I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
Should just pack it in, try and win less games so we’re not even close to promotion. What’s the point in wanting to compete at the top level?

I mean you kind of have to because what’s the point otherwise. We would likely get hammered most weeks and get relegated but at least we might get a bit more money and then parachute payments.
Modern football is shit isn’t it.

Been saying it for weeks
Club and board don’t want to spend if we do but a bad season in premier can have a amplified effect on future of the ckub
Fans nice day out at Wembley
Lose🤷‍♀️
Win 4kin hell

What's your name pal?

I know a few Leeds fans at work and they are not looking forward to next season at all.

I know a Shef Utd fan and he is convinced if they go up they will break the lowest points total next season.

There's a grim realisation in all championship fans that the gap is so large now it's no longer merely a borderline stay up go down situation but now more of how embarrassingly bad will it be.
