The club have invested millions into the academy though. He's simply not good enough.Yeah if he is the best that’s came through that’s a different problem.
Should have bought someone better!

Exactly. People saying he has a good work rate are wrong. When it matters he goes missing. He's absolutely pathetic. Look at his work tracking back for the first goal. He's just behind Kenan Davis (who runs far post) and that lazy fucker doesn't make even make it back into our box. Should be busting a gut to get back in so early on in the game and he's jogging Pathetic

I never saw it but I gather he was dross!
Loads of hatred.
honeycunt was used tonight. Some awful people on here like.
He gives his all, he’s playing in an awful team with no confidence, has little experience , and doesn’t hide.
How anyone can call him a cunt is beyond me
I bet it did. I've worked/coached alongside a former Gateshead centre half who was at Gateshead during Honeyman's spell there. He was there with another Sunderland loanee (name escapes me) iirc. My mate was adamant they were easily amongst the worst players in the squad and used them as examples as to how poor the 23s league is. They were totally out of their depth apparently. His argument went along the lines of Premier League clubs churn out numerous totally useless players that wouldn't get into the Gateshead team (Honeyman being prime example) but look good against similar players of their age and these players are found out immediately when they're not all strolling about on a Wednesday night at Hetton & have to go up against players who'll kick them and not give them a minute's peace. They go from strolling about for the 23s into the fast and furious standard of top flight football. It can be no surprise that so few make it.
18 months later and he's a regular in our first team.![]()
Baffles me still why he gets so much abuse on here.
He is a tidy player, finds a Sunderland player with most of his passes, wriggles his way out of trouble and is quick to turn in the middle of park. He can beat a player (this has dried up as the season has progressed but we know it is there) and he gives his all and is always showing in the middle of the park.
No idea why he seems to be so hated on here, he's a decent player at this level and is definitely good enough for the bench when all are fit.
How did you watch it Coeus? He wasnt good like, gave the ball away to often, passing was very poor especially when trying to go forward, looked lost tonight in what I thought was a decent enough performance otherwise.
To be fair that just highlights your mates lack of football knowledge.

He's went from not being picked for Gateshead to first team here. This club is fucked.he was.
because he was utterly useless at Gateshead. Non-league plodders running rings around him. The 23s leagues are totally pointless imo. Honeyman would have spent the last 3 years or so playing against maybe 2 or 3 players (absolute maximum) per week that'll make a career in football. The majority won't get anywhere near their first team. That applies to most of Honeyman's teammates during that period too.
I don't know what the alternative is but these players can't be judged by their ability in the 23s. Honeyman was packed off on loan so we could make a judgement. That judgement was made and then reversed and he's landed in the 1st team.![]()
Only slightlyJust reminds me of a slightly shitter Colback.
Fuck off you blind buggerBaffles me still why he gets so much abuse on here.
