He’s done alright to be fair. He’s just not as good a footballer as geertruida on the ball, that’s something that’s been obvious the more Hume has drifted into midfield. His passing is poor and he’s not as composed as his new teammates.

The reason Geertruida would have been such a good signing is that you’re buying a first team quality CB, RB and CM for £20m

You'd hope so but Geertruida offered cover and quality for several positions. Its a blow this mind. I think he should have had far more minutes than he has.
Clearly don't have a hope when we barely start him and then Liverpool will come and tell him hes right back.

I think it’s the form of Hume initially that prevented Geertruida getting a regular starting spot in the side. The club were ruthless in replacing a lot of last seasons promotion winning side and I’d imagine they thought an international fullback would soon replace Hume at right back.
Hume’s good form made him pretty much undroppable so Geertruida has had to contend with bit parts here and there covering for injuries, players away at AFCON etc.
In a World Cup year there’s no surprise a player on loan would explore his options and as others have said when Liverpool come calling with a manager the player knows …..

Well the poster said Hume didn’t play instead of geertruida and it was in fact mayenda that did, given that mayenda played on the wing and Hume played in the middle in replacement of xhaka I was questioning why he thought geertruida would have played on the wing.
