Full body offside rule

Seems like a huge advantage for the attacking player.

For me, it’d make things much simpler if they just said your feet need to be onside. That would allow the attacker to lean into their run for a slight advantage, and the VAR checks would be easy.

I don’t see how that makes any difference tbh, you’ll still get people saying he’s only 1mm offside.

For me just any part of your body offside you’re offside and if you’re on the pitch you’re interfering with play. Make it as simple as possible.

This for me should be the starting position..
FEET POSITION.

Any other part, nose,arm,dick...forget it.

Ave been saying it all day long, clear light of day between the players not 2 millimetres of the players right ring finger off side!!! Simple really!👌

Shirley the rule needs to use technology to enforce the spirit of the rule not to prove minute offside infractions that only technology can pick out and stop the game to still not be able to rule one way or another.

It needs a broad stroke like daylight or feet.

Also stop the not offside if not interfering with play. You are interfering with play.

As the title says
If Wenger has his grubby hands on it, you just know it will be as shady as out
It doesn't in any way address the failings with the current offside rule.

You'll still end up with the exact same VAR decisions being made over millimetres, the only difference is where they draw the lines.

Haway the trting to getting to rid of defending.

Haway the continuous debating about mms from where the new line is drawn.

Haway the haway.

An allowable small error bar outside of which it is given is the only way to go with var. Appreciate it just moves the line but if you are offside beyond the allowable limit it should be pretty clear offside and will avoid the reduculous offside by a toenail scenarios that everyone hates.

Daylight between just feels like too much of an advantage to the attacker.

That or just go back to on field decision stands unless there is some instance that the ref has clearly missed/complicated scenarios, in which case his decision is just overuled by var.

I was so excited for VAR because I genuinely thought it would be used to stop the scourge of diving. Using it for minute offsides is stupid and against the whole point of the rule.

Rather than basing it on position of feet I cannot for life of me understand why they don’t make it the players torso/chest - in a 100m race it’s who breasts the tape first that wins, precisely to stop someone hoying themselves over the line so their head or arm crosses the line first. Make it the same with the offside - so if your foot or your hand or your arm is ahead of the defender, then it’s onside, you are level. If your torso/chest/bulk of your body is ahead then you are off. Doesn’t need to be any daylight. There Would still be some subjectivity involved but it would stop these ridiculous minuscule offsides where no realistic advantage is possibly gained.

They’ll still be 2mm offside just 2 extra millimetres of ‘clear light of day’. I don’t understand how people don’t see this. All they are doing is moving a line it’ll still cause the exact same issues just some goals that were offside for over 100 years will now be allowed.

It doesn't matter what the rule is, it's always going to be contentious. All they're doing is moving the line. I was under the impression that VAR was meant to be for clear and obvious decisions, but they're replaying a few frames to decide if a player's big toe was giving them an advantage. I'd be in favour of just scrapping it altogether.
