Frank Lampard - manager rumours

I'm in as long as we install Lord Sebastian as club mascot and increase the tree size at the academy so Mr Bielsa can't see in

I’d have him.

He was excellent at Chelsea in his first spell and got the best out of some of their young players in Abraham, Mount and James.

If we’re looking at unemployed managers and he fancied it then I’d roll the dice.

I doubt he’d move this far north tbh.
There lasses teeth wouldn’t handle our climate.

Got Derby to the play off final in his only season and had a good win ratio there (42%). Got Chelsea top 4 when they were bringing their young uns through and kept Everton up which is all every other manager has managed, bar Allardyce (even Ancelloti who spent a fortune)
I'm not a fan of win ratio as a measure of anything personally. I reckon my Man City team talk of 'just go out there and do what you normally do' would probably yield a win ratio of 50% over a season.

He did although they spent wildly and borrowed Timori and Mount from Chelsea. When he left they were fucked financially although the blame for that should probably lie with the chairman.

Which Liam’s mess did he take over at Derby?
Apologises my mistake got my memory wrong

Only had one season in the championship and took Derby to the play off final. Got Chelsea top 4 and wasn't it also to an fa cup final that year they were under the embargo and forced to use some of their young talent? Everton were a total f***ing mess when he went there, Chelsea too have been a nightmare club in recent times. He'd be loads better than most of the fuckwits we are linked with including Rosenior. However it's irrelevant because he's a an extremely bright lad and wouldn't touch safc with a barge poll. No way would he work for Speakman and Dodds.

Great post.
Would love to give Lampard another chance at coaching or managing.
At the very least he might attract some decent young players.

*you are right though, no chance of him coming with the (at least perceived) baggage of KS and Dodds 😞

I thought he did really well at derby and in his 1st stint at Chelsea. Some of those young Chelsea players that came through in this period are quality players now.
I would assume he’d want to have too much say in recruitment and if we look at our last few windows the head coach doesn’t have a great deal of input (although Dack would seem the exception!).
I’d imagine he’d be a good fit for a young and ambitious team. I’d assume he’d be a bit more charasmatic than Beale or Dodds and always seemed like a leader on the pitch when he played.
His playing career and ability would be some inspiration for the young’uns to look up to!

Did well at Derby but he made the most of his contacts. Having Mount and Wilson made it a bit easier.

His first spell at Chelsea, that was his best foot forward. Getting a tune out of the likes of Abraham.

That being said, wouldn’t be as against it given the position we are now. Has had success previously, comes from a family that have managed for decades…

His time at Derby was overrated imo. They spent a lot of money assembling an excellent championship squad (ignored FFP which cost them later). They should have been in the mix for automatic but they stumbled along, finished 6th and pipped us to the play offs - we were crap as well under Pulis.

Leeds fell apart in the semi finals against them and then they didn't show up in the final.
